The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FOUR

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'm not getting alot of feedback but the parents who have gotten back to me take my position. Evidently the school is getting major feedback from lots of angry parents and are trying very hard to defend the book and make me look like I'm making a big deal out of nothing.

Yes, they are trying to turn the tables and say I'm the bad guy in all of this for sending an email.

Well, sending the email is a pretty minor sin... if it was a big deal about nothing, they would have deleted it and not made phone calls ;~D

Well, generally an early to bed early to rise, and never get out of bed till it's time:)

Mack use to laugh about my being so adamant about getting in bed at 10:00. He'd ask me if I was Cinderella, and would turn into a pumpkin if I stayed up later:)

I would ask the school why they are getting upset about parents knowing what's in the book, if the book is OK according to them.

That's true. I just hope the head of the school isn't able to convince the parents that I'm the bad guy here. He's a cheat and a liar but he's very charming about it. The guy could convince people that screwing sheep is ok.

Did you ever try it? ;~D

I've always been early to bed early to rise too. Or rather... I always wake up early, whether I went to bed early or not... I am ~always~ awake withing five minutes of 5 am. Whether I ~stay~ up is another matter.

It's early yet, I don't know what's available down there... Might be able to find some marigolds for it... ;~D Some big daisies would be nice.

That is a great point. Since the school likes to throw around scripture to back up their arguments (which so far the only scripture being thrown in my face is the one about going to the person you have a problem with, Matthew something) I'm going through my bible looking for scripture I can use about teaching wickedness in order to show children it's wrong. I'm doing pretty well with Proverbs. Anybody got a good one?

IMO, you probably are going to come out looking like the fool, bad guy if you let yourself get sidetracked into defending yourself.

When you deal with a fool you're eventually going to look more foolish then they do because there IS NOT dealing with a fool. Fools can defend anything because they use foolishness.

Just don't get sidetracked, keep YOUR focus on the book, and that is all you want is the book pulled. I wouldn't even defend the e-mails, or yourself in rebuttals. That is not the issue.

Nah, got some of Frog's "water grass" which would be perfect. It is "dozer tuff" when it gets to the mature stage......

Once in awhile:)

It seems the older I get the harder it is to get up in the morning. I use to get up around 5:30, 6:00 every morning with no alarm clock. Now it's usually right around 7:00.

I love mornings, when I'm the only one up for a while.

The current bid is about the price that trailer should bring. It will also resell for the same amount if you should find a better trailer later on.
