*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Most of the trailer floors I have seen, mine included, do not need a cutting torch to be replaced. Just a pry bar, heavy hammer and a skil saw will do the job. Make sure to measure twice or three times and cut once with the saw. There was a small 1"x1" strip of angle iron on one side that was tack welded in place to hold the boards down. I removed the tack welds with a 4 inch angle grinder and did not put it back. A 1 inch by 6 inch flat board was nailed down on that side to replace the angle iron. The next time the floor was replaced it only took a couple of hours. As a precaution, I always walk the floor first before loading livestock or horses, even new ones.
LOL!! Pardon me for laughing, I know this is a very serious subject, but that line was hilarious. I've seen guys like that. They usually confine themselves to used car lots, but alot of them are local leaders too.
Don't let them get you down. That's what they're hoping for. That you'll fold at the first sign of a little heat. Hang in there. Go to the media if you have to, but keep in mind that the media isn't all that friendly to real Christians these days either. They like to pretend that they are, but if something even remotely smells of political incorrectness, like you're anti-gay or something, they'll set the dogs on ya.
That's a great one and reminds me of this verse...
Mtthew 18:6
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
That's a nice trailer!
I think if you chose the media carefully you would do good. Sean Hannity from Fox news would love this story.
Its in good condition too.
I thought at $3000 it was a good price.
Do you want driving directions? : D
Heh... no, it's too big for the current truck!
This looks like a really nice trailer if it's not too far from you. I'd definately want to look at it.
The thing that concerns me about media exposure is that it gives them a vehicle to malign christians, by showing the hypocrisy of the teacher in this situation.
You know the media...always waiting for a chance to pounce!
I still have hope that this situation can be handled by the parents - hang tough tuffy!
He is selling his 3 horses, trailer and equipment and downsizing. He has a wonderful place, way out in the sticks, huge doublewide and 176? acres.
Hes either going to sell, or rent.........I thought of you CindyDawg! Fancy a move?
It is a long ways... 6 hours or so, it's a couple miles from the Idaho line. About as far away as you get and still be in the state ;~D
We're a long way from hair! and it is too big for the truck, but i just wanted to show what is out there..........keep looking Hair cause the right thing will turn up when the time is right. : D
I cracked myself up writing that line. I guess I need to laugh to keep from crying.
More than likely this guy was selling used cars before he decided to open a Christian school.
Buy it, that is a good deal. Get the truck you want later......
It's in Georgia. It'd be a better deal for you to buy ;~D
I'm hanging tuff on the outside, I don't know about the inside.
Thanks for the bible verses, I wrote them all down. Let me know if you think of any more. If this is the game they are going to play, I need to have the ammunition to win it.
But you know what? Everytime these guys start quoting scripture I want to say, "hey buddy, don't bother. You've already blown your cover."
It depends on how the floor made as to how easy it is, but I replaced the floor and inside plywood sheeting in my 2horse by myself, and I ain't mechanically inclined at all. There was just an "L" bracket at the front that was held down by 2 carriage bolts. Once I took that up, the boards could be lifted by a floor jack then slid out of the "U" channel in the back. Then it's just a matter of cutting the new boards to the same length as the old ones. And once you have the floor out, the inside plywood somes out easy too. I think I did it in 1 Saturday afternoon.
Put up Purple Martin houses now and the skeeters will be few and far between when you get the house built.
Good tips to consider... It probably is easy.
