~in fact~ dangit.
My daughter bought me "Van Lear Rose" by Loretta Lynn. I am stuned by it - I think it's the best thing she ever did, and I've been a long time fan of hers.
Yeah, I'm not sure three cats are even allowed. I'm going to have to start looking into things...
To Ivan Ilych only one question was important: was his case serious or not? But the doctor ignored that inappropriate question. From his point of view it was not the one under consideration, the real question was to decide between a floating kidney, chronic catarrh, or appendicitis. It was not a question the doctor solved brilliantly, as it seemed to Ivan Ilych, in favour of the appendix, with the reservation that should an examination of the urine give fresh indications the matter would be reconsidered.
He later describes the taste of metal in his mouth. It's never clear exactly what it is.
But wife figgers the students will ask. Anybody know?
A very nice post.
I tried reading that thread, but found it too aggravating. My gosh there are a lot of FReepers who are ready to dance on his grave...
I guess I'll just have to wait for more news.
I don't think so, but it might have made me a great shot-giver! I never had a complaint! :-)
I couldn't take care of kids though...I had to during nursing school and I hated it. It's emotionally exhausting. That and burn trauma nursing requires something special in a nurse.
On the other hand, head trauma rehab is my thing...I used to be quite good at it, imo and enjoyed it a lot. I'd like to get back in to it someday, when the kids are older.
That'll give her more chance to 'chatter' at the bushy tailed thievin varmints that you have there. Annie likes to harass ours.
The taste of metal in your mouth is, among other things I think, a symptom of high radiation exposure. Though given that Tolstoy was a 19th century writer... this is not a likely possibility. Not sure what else would 'splain it.

I prefer the "Star Wars" opening theme, myself.
On one proejct I was on, I was taking laptops from a basement staging area up one floor, then taking the elevator next to it that went to the floor of the hospital I really wanted. The "Inspector Clouseau" theme started playing in my head, without any prompting on my part.
With Sam mentioning he has never had perch, wonder if he has missed out on 'fish boils' and 'smoked chubs' as well? Can you tell I spent some summers in Door County WI?
However, I think the real answer is, "It's not important." It's just a MacGuffin; the importance of the story is how the character deals with his illness, not what his illness actually is.
Fighting a giant marlin all night and trying to fend sharks off unsuccessfully once the marlin is beaten and lashed alongside?
It was a strange time, being that John Paul I had only served for about a month. I remember going in to work and seeing the headline on the newspaper and thinking, why is this old newspaper still here from Paul VI's death? Then I saw the new Pope had died. It was wierd.
But JPII has been wonderful, and is widely admired by Catholics and non-Catholics alike. He is certainly in my prayers.
There's a place here that does a perfectly perfect Sirloin Marsala.
Jen wants no part of it :)
Napolean Solo?
Good grief. But it was a spy comedy, no?
