Yeah, bless his heart. He's seen and done much in his 26 years as Pope, and has aged so much during that time. I remember when he was chosen; we were living in Florida, and I heard that non-Italian name on the radio and I was so excited!

It was a strange time, being that John Paul I had only served for about a month. I remember going in to work and seeing the headline on the newspaper and thinking, why is this old newspaper still here from Paul VI's death? Then I saw the new Pope had died. It was wierd.

But JPII has been wonderful, and is widely admired by Catholics and non-Catholics alike. He is certainly in my prayers.

You gotta love a Pope that snow skis. I remember some of the early pics of him... hittin' the slopes in Switzerland. Though, of course at the time he was just wearing a wool watchcap. The big tall hat would not have been practical for the occasion. :-)
