The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Eat seafood while you can, because you're about to move a thousand miles from the nearest ocean. Even if I like seafood, I wouldn't want it here. And the prices! It as expensive as good beef!

I'm guessin' beef is cheaper there than it is here, though! That'll be nice!

Ok...I learned that frying the tacos in a bunch of butter doesn't work...the butter scorches. So I make the tacos into little packets held together with a toothpick, coat both sides with a thin layer of butter then fry them briefly just to turn them a bit brown. (I don't worry about cooking the inside, he'll do that when he nukes 'em.) Put them on a cooling rack then put three per baggie.

I made 12 of them and they are in the freezer!

I also made Matthew a cheese taco and a scrambled egg and cheddar cheese taco for Joshua!

You should make them with all sorts of fillings and not tell him what's in what, then he'd have a surprise every lunch.

Heh! I like the way you think! I have every single one of these baggies labeled "Bean and Cheese".

How about "Bean, Cheese and Fish"? "Been and Leek"? "Radish and Cheese"?

I should do something like that. Wonder how well they'll heat up? You'll have to report back...

I hope they turn out ok...

I also made him an egg and cheese one...but just one, because I am really skeptical about the freezing of it...

We've been doing 1/2 and 1/2 for years. We like our coffee and sometimes will drink three or four cups of that blend in a day. This way, we're only having two cups of full caf a day, if that much. We only drink decaf in the evenings, though. I don't even have to have the caffeine in my afternoon cup. I just like the hot, sweet liquid (with milk, of course).

Try the reduced caf again, just go back to the 2/3rd caf this time, then reduce the caf by 1 tablespoon. Stay on that a week or so, then go down another tablespoon. You can wean yourself from it, and get yourself used to the taste, it willjust take time.

Yeah, I dunno how that'd work! Maybe fine. I really haven't ever frozen egg stuff because I was told it didn't work, and I hardly know why!

Eep...less than two weeks until the house is no longer mine. Just realizing I should probably do all the stuff like notifying the electric company and phone company and all that.

The time sure has flown, hasn't it. It seems just yesterday you had your 'epiphany', and here you are within a few weeks of actually moving!

I know...a little scary, isn't it?

January 6th...less than two months ago.

OK, I have yet another thing for the TPL. Halvah has an eye that has been weepy for a long time, and Tam recently started having the same trouble. Awhile back, I went to the vet, and got the lady vet (who I don't really care for, truth be told), who gave me some drops to give them. I did that until those ran out, and then they gave me another bottle, but it just isn't clearing up the trouble. I called today to ask what else could be done, and was told I should bring them in right away as they may be developing eye ulcers and that I shouldn't be giving those drops as it'll make things worse, and this could be very serious. So I'm TRYING not to freak. And I know it's my fault for not pursuing this more than I have, but I'm also a little upset that it may have been misdiagnosed to begin with. Halvah may lose sight in that eye or something horrible!

I'm taking tomorrow off, so I can take them in in the morning. I'm really upset. And I'm going to be dealing with the same doctor, unless I really make a fuss. I just get the feeling she thinks I'm horrible to my pets, which is partly true since I tend to put things off. Halvah's eye was a little messed up for quite a long time, but I didn't say anything about it until fairly recently.
