Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

They can stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.

I believe that was the first DVD I ever bought. Not that I hadn't seen it before...and we had the record when I was little. We still sing some of the songs with all the skips from the record gettin' wobbly. ;-)

Blame it on the skips in the record.

Look at Corin's map. Once you get through VT, it's red states all the way! You don't even have to come through MA, which is the bluest state of all! At least the Northeast Kingdom in VT went for Bush. There are NO red counties in MA!

Argh...
The bus stops on our corner, right? Lets the kids out. Kids have been known to tear up our tree, skateboard in our drive (slamming into our garage door). Now this elderly woman apparently is picking up her granddaughter right in front of our house. She parks right in front of our house which I don't mind at all, for a long time I'd wave at her!
But she's got a major oil leak. I mean it's awful. And when it rains, it flushes that oil into our driveway, into our grass. Every time she parks there, five days a week, she dumps a dinner-plate sized spot of oil.
It's gonna kill our grass. I just know it. That grass that we dug around on our hands and knees pulling up sandburs till our fingers bled.
Sigh.
That's the extend of what I'm gonna say. I'll never confront her. This isn't the greatest neighborhood and confronting her could lead to graffiti on my fence or harm coming to my chickens.

Here's proof...you know how I am about making sure you know I'm telling the truth. LOL Anyway, I don't know if it's really oil, but it has that rainbow look when it's running off the road with the rainwater and it doesn't evaporate.
Here's what the street looks like in front of my house...see my van?

This is todays deposit...

I'd say something.... Honestly, the damage to the lawn would probably be pretty minimal and right at the edge... but that looks like heck.
You can clean it with a degreaser and the hose... but I'd tell her to park somewhere else or bring a piece of cardboard for a diaper. Show her the stains.

I'm very anxious about insulting someone. People get real insulted sometimes when you point out something they're doing wrong or what not. Then I think they're gonna get revenge, or call Child Protective Services on me. I'm not being white-knuckled either...this is a very real concern.
I didn't say anything when Bear was drinking out of my neighbor's open septic tank. Nor when the lesbians were running a unliscensed childcare and scads of people were parking in my side yard.
I won't say anything about this.
The degreaser tip is good...I hadn't thought of that and really, that's all I need. Just some way to clean it up.

Well, whether you are being a white knuckler sortof goes without saying... ;~D
That's a pretty severe leak. I thought my Bronco lost a lot of oil, and even it wasn't ~that~ bad.
You could put out a piece of cardboard and a sign that says... "Park on this please".
