Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

*sniff*
Seems like such a short time ago!
Yep, something like that. ;-) In our case, it's close to 2000 miles.

Two girls, two Siamese brats and an overloaded old mini-van. We may be conspicuous.
I'm thinking I may take off the bumper stickers and such before we set out, though. Not that I'm ashamed of them...but I dunno what people are like in some of the states/cities we're goin' through.

What kind of bumper stickers have you got?

Heh...not that one!
Just a big flag and a yellow ribbon and a Bush sticker. The flag and ribbon are magnetic, so those are no biggie.

Heh - leave them.... I had those on my truck here in the breeding ground of the militant hippy anarchist movement.

You won't really be "in" any of the cities, you'll stay on the highway. Stop overnight in small towns - you're going through the Heartland, mostly, people will be fine.
They really won't care. In Fort Collins it's split - town versus school - so nobody takes offense at anything.

Thank you so much for the answer! I previewed the link and it worked perfectly, but when I hit backspace it was gone and I missed doing it correctly the second time. I am so computer illerate.

That shore is a purty map!
Yeah, looks like about the only blue I'll hit (except for my own state) is the little part in northeastern OH, where I don't plan to stop anyhow.

shhhh--don't tell her about the bad interesting parts.
To: Corin Stormhands
It's funny.... there's more blue surface area in Colorado than in her entire home state, and yet it's a red state... Welcome to the big states!

You're taking 80, right? That'll send you through the blue barrier in Iowa, but won't take long to get through that.

Yeah, that'll be really strange at first. My state would fit into most of the western states at least half a dozen times! ;-)
That little shrinking red corner of Vermont...that's where I live now. Or right on the edge of it. I think my county went blue this time. *sigh* It's the final frontier...

You really ought to give Iowa a try,
provided you were contrary...
