The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hehehe....I guess I should be grateful that my Overlord hasn't figured out how to wield a battle axe although her claws are sharp enough.

Mornin' (barely).

We been up straightening up around the house. Wife's older sister is coming today, supposedly just to take Luke out, but it gets complicated. And I'll leave it there.

Nana is coming home this afternoon. She'll be in the brace. But she won't require home health care. Then I guess next week they'll work on setting a date for the surgery.

We're going to see Harvey Korman and Tim Conway tonite. We can use the laughs.

;-)

So is the Conway thing her Valentines? Sounds great!

I just made the boys brunch...since they really just got up and around. I took my bread that I made the other day and cut it into sticks, basically made cinnamon french toast sticks out of it, then deep-fried it, sprinkled it with powdered sugar.

He he...I like to call it (to myself) "Kim's Deep-fried Craptacular". They LOVED it.

I think it would be a great dish for ShootMoot, don't you?

~sigh~

No, that was a Christmas present. But we chatted last night. With all that's going on, we both have lowered expectations for Valentine's Day.

Heh...Jr. is trying to figure out what to get his girlfriend, and commented that he didn't care what he got. I had the opportunity to 'splain to him that Valentines Day is a burden men carry to their grave.

I don't guess we'll do anything...maybe go eat at the Chinese place down the street. But the kids'll come with, since the only person that would watch them for free is Celeste and she's under the weather. It'd be less expensive to take them with us than to pay for a sitter!

Besides, we don't go out to eat often...I'd just soon they get to go too.

Oooh, bagpipes....

Yawn. Morning. Today is for homework. Hopefully I can get through it quickly and spend hours and hours watching anime. Hah. I wish.

I got two boxes. Coulda gotten more...shoulda. But I already had a few, and I mostly want to get rid of a lot!

Still, things are coming along.

I did forget (again) to pick up the classifieds paper so I can see what's available as far as car carriers go.

Though...if I do that, I worry about what I'll do with it on the other end. Do you have storage lockers or anything in your complex?

Yeah, I haven't claimed one but I can do that if it's necessary. Or we could just shove it in a corner. My house is not very neat right now.

You know, I used to really like Victory Garden...when they had the guy with the beard doing it...I don't know if you watch it, but the guy with the beard was all right.

They've replaced him with some pantywaist and I can't stand him. Any minute I expect him to come out dressed like Marilyn Monroe.

Nahh....don't watch Victory Garden.

I've got the sliding glass door all taped off and I'm fixing to apply the stain....Medium Walnut. Hope it's a close enough match with the floor.

I'm just not sure how big those things are!

Good to know there IS storage if necessary.

Continuing to pack...this is exciting!!

At the worst we'll stick is out on the balcony. There ought to be room there.

Have fun packing! I've done the easy bits of the homework, now we're into rarified territory. I don't even know what this question means...

so we made 'em a pot of smoked ham hocks and beans, cornbread, and cookies... it's cheaper than payin' $40 an hour...

But I bet it's more appreciated!

The stain comes close to matching the floor but it's not quite yellow enough.

I LIKE the Saturn Vue! You should be able to get a used one for not too much. They've been out for several years, so there should be a few on the road. And y'all don't have to worry about undercarriage rust like we do from all the salt on the roads in the wintertime. That's why we bought the newer used car this time around. We got a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with AWD, and I'm LOVIN it! I didn't have one bit of trouble driving in the snow this year, and I had to negotiate 4-5" on the road some mornings taking Joseph to school. It's been great on slushy hills, too, which was the acid test.
