The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I get off work at four my time and will be home until at least seven thirty, possibly eight. So...any time within that window!

I'd not heard that story, but we've always been careful about them and made sure the boys knew to keep them away from their mouth.

I plan to! As much as possible!

Though...I'd also like to explore Denver a bit someday. Can you do that by bus?

Does the bus system cover the whole city, too? It'd be lovely if I could bus to work, wherever I end up working!

Dude, I like driving... and exploring new places, and it's no fun on your own.

The bus system goes about everywhere, and we are on the line. I think it's a little pricy, like a buck each way, but you can get a pass. I don't notice since a bus pass is one of the student perks. I tend to just take the bus to school, and then do errands in the car. The roads aren't that bad, really. I was used to mostly one-lane roads with a few two-lanes, but I adjusted pretty quickly. And it's flat here.

Yeah...I mean, every clown gives them...even their doctor used to give them. Heck, even I've used them.

But like you, I'm just aware of their dangers around small children. I've actually seen people give them to small infants who immediately begin sucking on them!

Ah, right. I never decided if I liked that play or not. Probably not, I hate when people ram their "Message" down my throat.

Even a buck each way isn't bad...I mean, I pay over $20 a week in gas right now, in general. That's twice as much!

Probably at some point after I'm there, I should sell Van-sama and get a smaller car.

How much is gas, per gallon, right now? It might even been cheaper here. And you probably won't have to drive very far, since everything is close.

Last week I think it was 1.92 for the lowest grade. Pretty expensive, though it's worse if you get to the more rural areas...I guess because they have to pay to ship it there.

I think it's at least ten cents cheaper here. So that's a little... admittedly my car gets great mileage, but I only have to fill the tank once a month. Or twice if I go to Denver.

Denver is where that Popeye's is, right? Mmm...Popeye's... Hey, I wonder if Margaret and I will see any along the way? Oooh...and I KNOW we'll be able to pick up Vernors! Woo-hoo!

I'll have to get a nice little car with good milage after I'm well settled! I do love my van...but I really won't have a need for it once I'm there.

I've read anything by Arthur Miller. I'll have to remedy that.
