Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

     | Upon the hearth the fire is red,Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
 Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
 |
      |
      | Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
 |
      |
Home is behind, the world ahead,And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
Well wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

How much snow have y'all gotten? It rained until about 3, then it started snowing. We're supposed to get 3-6". Don't know if we'll get that much, or if they'll cancel school tomorrow. Depends on how much of it they can clear tonight or early in the morning. Clare has a writing class at 10:30am in Providence, but I dont't know if they're getting snow at all. Hwy 146 will be clear, so there'll be no problem getting there.

Its a fanfiction I stumbled upon the other night. Its kind of a continuation of Pippin's story several years after the War of the Ring and after he has been married five or so years. I thought it excellent because the author ties in a lot of ancient Egyptian, African, and pre-Judaic stories together. I loved it because it the author seems to really know the subject matter as well as Pippin's character...or at least he seems to have the same viewpoint of the character that I have. Its really rare to come across that in fanfiction. A lot of it ends up being personal fantasies about the character.
It's here

Cat people usually always have a can of Resolve under the sink. ;-)I've got a couple. :)
When I hear the hack warnings I reach for some newspaper or a magazine to thrust into the chuck zone.

    Aha. Ok...got it now.

You've piqued my interest!

"Pippin propped himself up on his elbow and looked into the darkness for a long while; then he slipped out of bed and stood. The cool air of early spring stung his bare skin. He quickly donned a robe and picked up his pipe from the bedtable."**COUGH! Choke choke gasp!

We've gotten quite a bit! It's wet, so not as deep as it WOULD be...but I would guess six inches and still falling? We're supposed to get up to 16" total!

Whew...I'm sorting / packing books and CDs, and though I've done a LOT, I'm having a lot of trouble not getting distracted by the subject matter...

Rosie, I want to back you up on your percept of bar versus pub. Not that my folks ever went to either, but there was a definite idea of bar as a place where you get drunk, while pub has a social aspect.

And why are they giving us such a hard time? I seem to recall we were the ones who went pubbing at Entmoot! We're not snobs!

Alkhin, I don't do LotR fanfic but I hope you're not promoting hentai stuff... we don't do yaoi (or yuri) here, though we're mildly eichi now and then...
My word, I've been more or less fan-fic clean for three years now.

*pout* but I don't want to be the only one who got vapors...I got 'em at three in the morning...when I wasn't laughing my head off at some of the comments the writer had Pippin make.
