The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Our eccentric neighbor has been stockpiling silver coins for decades. He believes the whole banking system will go bust in the not-too-distant future and the government will cease to exist, and figures precious metals will be the only useful currency.

Like my irrational discomfort around latex balloons. The folks here at work delight in throwing overinflated balloons into my cubicle and watching the show.

What is it you think they are going to do to you?

But he's vey nervous that someone will drop something and crack the tiles.

A valid concern. All the more so because many ceramic tiles only have their color on the surface. If the tile is chipped and the surface comes off, all you see underneath is the raw clay. Not attractive.

We'll either do wood floors in the kitchen, or possible real, true, linoleum. You can use either over under-the-floor radiant heating as long as the floor surface temp doesn't exceed 85 degrees.

Amazing. I'd never before heard of anyone with that same fear!

I remember that I had one blow up right in my face when I was six. Left a welt on my cheek it did. But instead of outgrowing the fear, it's steadily gotten worse.

I bite the bullet for birthday parties too. Once I even managed to walk around normally with 30 or so balloons just floating around against a popcorn ceiling no less.

That was for Becky's 2nd birthday and once was enough.

Okay, this is the second time in a week I've run across a personal real life acquaintance on FR. And this one has some notoriety.

I'm going to have to go underground. Thankfully, being a dwarf helps with that.

I'm OK with 'em once they're inflated so long as no one is handling 'em, but I admit some of Mom's fear of seeing 'em blown up rubbed off on me. I don't like being around. And the sound of someone rubbing one of those...*shudder* That squeaky threatening-to-pop noise gives me the willies!

So I'm with ya, at least part of the way!
