Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

On the bright side, I sold the bookcase. For about half what I paid for it...but I'd say for furniture that's probably the standard depreciation! And the people that bought it MIGHT come back for other furniture, including the fancy chair. The only catch is that the husband is really allergic to cats, so they were a little antsy of buying anything with upholstery.

Want some of my cholesterol medicine?
:-)
Tell him to blow it out his shorts...even if you just mentally say it to yourself. (That's how I do it most the time. Makes me feel better anyways.)
See ya in the morning, Rosie!

I vented to my brother for a bit. But it makes me so mad that this guy can get to me! I really shouldn't give a crap what he thinks, and I tell myself I don't, and yet he still has the ability to make me question even my strongest decisions at times.
Grrr.
He basically just kept saying (again, not in so many words) that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, and I'm just setting myself up for disappointment and failure.
Even if that IS so, I think I need to fail in order to appreciate the grass here. ;-) And I don't think it's so!

People like that are poisonous. Just ignore him. His "honeyed venom" stems from the fact that he knows he will never have anything better in his life, and he hates it. Rather than try to change things for himself, he subtly criticizes everyone else who is trying to improve their life. It's his way of trying to make himself feel better about his own bad choices...

Hehe... I do feel better letting off steam here. It's just so frustrating, and the way I'm working is a little like using waldos to work inside a "hot" room. I'm coding on my machine, copying the code, pasting it into VI through an SSH client talking to several computers at school, and then using unix commands to compile the garbage.
Ruthy, what I just said means I'm having a miserable time and everything takes three times longer than it should.

Blow it off, sis.
Sounds like this fella's stuck in a rut and wants everyone to join him.
Misery loves company doncha know.
Is he around your age? If he is, he may have a crush on you and is ticked that you're leaving.

What a jerk! Ignore him, Rosie.
And congrats on the bookshelf! That's always good news, a little money to add to the stash.

Ewww, Gundam Seed. Gundam's one property that's gone on waaaay too long - think "Star Trek", only more sequels.

If you're doing it in the bread machine, you don't need to melt the butter, just cut it into little pieces! ;o)

Heh...no, he's a lot older. Don't think it's like that. He's just....well, I have no idea what his motivations are, other than possibly what Bear said.
I'll be back to feeling cheerful in the morning, I think. I guess a part of it is just that I'm getting pretty excited about all this, and DO truly feel that it's meant to be...so when someone rains on my parade I take it even more personally than usual.

think "Star Trek", only more sequelsSpeaking of Star Trek sequels, read earlier tonight that UPN has cancelled "Enterprise" due to bad ratings. Current season will be the last. First Trek property to be cancelled since TOS...
