The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It hasn't even been a month since the epiphany!

Rather frightening, this is. I have a lot of furniture to rehome in a short time, not to mention the cats!

Garage sale!

Buy some little stickers and start sticking them on everything that sits still!

Saw ya on the fashion thread. I've been watching Project Runway recently and have been inspired to sew an outfit or two for work. So I go to Joann's this morning, find a pattern I like and start looking for fabrics. How frustrating! I had to start over three times because invariably I'd get a bolt of fabric with insufficient yardage. Grrrr... By the time I found something finally, I had to go without fabric for a jacket and totally forgot to buy the zippers for the pants. I'll have to make another trip. By then my inspriation will have fizzled.

:)

Too cold for a garage sale...and it'll be mid-May before that's a possibility. I gotta be outta here by mid-March.

I'll have to put ads in the paper, most like.

Have the garage sale in the house then! It's done here in rainy WA! Come in and take it where it sits!

So maybe the house sold so fast that the people at work didn't have time to notice it was for sale?

Yep. I think she'll fit through a 9 x 10" hole.

Beware the Ides of March! And congrats!

Ok, since the TPL handled that so well... I just spent four hours with my friend. She's going to have a baby, and I'm her "expert". I'm about to freak out here, which I kept under control while with her of course. Heeeellpp!

JoAnn's can be very frustrating sometimes looking for fabric! Unless you have some sort of specialty fabric store nearby, it's hard to find nice quality stuff that you truly want to work with at a decent price. We have a Fabric Place close by (in Franmingham) and it has gorgeous fabrics. You can spend as much as you want on some nice piece goods. They have designer jacquards, in polyester and in silk. They also have lovely matte jerseys and velours. I tried to find some tencel there a couple of years ago, but they didn't yet have any color selection in it. They probably have it now because it's become so popylar.

I haven't gone looking for any fabrics lately because I haven't bothered sewing. We have too many discount places for clothing around here, and I've done internet shopping. I haven't had any need for any thing really special, so I haven't felt the urge to sew.

What are you thinking of making, suits for work?

I haven't sewn garments enough to try a full-up suit. But I can do skirts and blouses or light jackets. That's kind of what I have in mind.

But I found this great stretch fabric that would make awesome slacks. So it'll be a slacks/jacket combo instead.

I've made unconstructed jackets and even made a lined coat once. Linings are a pain! I used to sew a lot for myself, but just got out of the habit of it when I started doing more crafts. I've sewn mostly costumes for Halloween and LARPing in the last few years. I did make a really snazzy vest for our #1 son when he went to his Senior Prom. I didn't like the run of the mill vest that came with the rented tux, so I made one out of some gorgeous black on black jacquard poly-cotton. It was snazzola!

Wish I had sewing talent. It'd be nice to have clothes I made myself.
