I think so too but apparently the college has a two-strike policy. At a graduate level, for such a blatant attempt, I think he should have been gone already too.
You'd think by Graduate school he'd be able to hide it better. He oughtta get kicked out for incompetence at least. ;^)
It is, in a way, but it's not really that great. The last two episodes destroy the coolness of the series, the hero is so whiny you're rooting for him to die, and it doesn't ever explain anything. If you know Jewish mythology the symbolism makes sense, but it's just not as great as all that.
Rurouni Kenshin, now, everyone agrees is two seasons of the best anime ever made. (Especially season two). Pity the show had three seasons... It's a little violent and don't show the kids the OVAs, but I think it should be ok.
Wife struggles with the lesson of plagiarism every time she teaches her students to do a research paper.
She makes them copy their sources and highlight what they're citing so that she can check. It adds hours to the grading process. She also makes the students and the parents sign a pledge which becomes increasingly more rigid every year (she had a student last year who said her parent wouldn't take her to the library, so now she makes the parents agree to provide necessary resources).
It's a lot more work. But those kids leave there knowing what plagiarism is and how to cite their sources.
Is not happy day with contacts.
I'm wondering if the bifocals would really be that bad...
Good for her!
Perhaps she could ask them to hand in electronic copies of their assignments? That way, suspicious phrases can be copied into Google easily.
Even if the offer comes quick, it can take over two months to close. So...selling before the wedding, I dunno! I'm not deciding anything until I know more.
Heh...just talked more with the real estate lady, and turns out they're showing the house to the girl who lived next door to me growing up. Interesting.
Amazingly, some of these kids are computer challenged. And that's a concept I can't quite grasp.
Seems to me homeschooling parents should be ahead of the curve on technology. I know a lot are. But a lot at this school just aren't.
The VOTE of DOOOOOM! LOL!
Well, there are some technophobic homeschoolers, and some who don't really have money for a computer. Or they have five kids and one PC.
You probably get a bit of a skewed view of homeschoolers, technologically at least, from me and Rosie. Growing up, we always had computers around. Dad would buy his old ones from work every 18 months or so; I had "my" first computer when I was 10. Over Christmas we had 7 computers in more or less working state in the house... but that's not necessarily what most homeschoolers have.
Interesting... Well, keep me posted!
Her parents are my Dad's next door neighbors. According to Stephen, her Dad is really pushing her to buy a house instead of renting like she has been doing. And she'd be looking for just a two bedroom place, as inexpensive as possible.
Hm...
I understand. But trust me, money isn't an issue with most of these parents. If they wanted to figure out a way to help their kids become computer savvy, they could.
It sure is a lot easier to ~catch~ plagiarisers in the age of Google. With more and more texts being published on the web, you can type in a key sentence or paragraph and if it's published, someone else has probably got it on a website.
Much easier than the old days.
Hmmm... sounds like something just might work out...
Yup, absolutely. That's how we caught our guy. Our research was based exclusively on journal articles and so theyw ere all online, so we Google'd the suspicious phrases (actually, every phrase except one turned out to be plagiarised)
Time to document him completely: an hour and a half. I even used colored highlighters on the printout.
Well, it's even easier when most of them are doing their research online. There's only a handful that don't have access.
Still, many of those that do have access lack the necessary skills.
Last week she showed them "cut and paste."
Well see.... now that they know cut and paste, they're dangerous ;~D
Only if they forget to cite their source.
Yeah, but my mom can't cut and paste either... I wonder sometimes how I learned it, since I don't remember anyone ever teaching me computer skills.
