My name is Mary Katherine, and I reside in the state of Ohio. I am a registered Republican. I grew up in a small town with very strict parents, attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life. I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother. I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife. I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.
I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.
However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.
I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.
I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.
I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?
I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?
Finally, I do not believe the war in Iraq was executed in the appropriate way. I do not support it in its current form.
So there it is. You all hate me for only one reason - the vote I placed on November 2nd. My only hope is that someday, somehow, you could all have a little less hate for those who don't share your beliefs. Thank you for reading this.
Unlike the fiscally conservative zealot Kerry?
I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother.
Yet you vote for someone who opposes elimination of the marriage penalty tax and wants you to subsidize daycare for those who work outside the home.
I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled.
Yet you vote for someone who opposed welfare reform and would expand government control over more and more areas of your life.
I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country.
Yet you want unelected judges to be able to impose gay marriage and the costs of gay marriage on the rest of us, and you feel that government should do something about divorce rates.
My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife.
Yet you vote for those who would prefer to see him locked into low returns and no control of his financial savings and retirement.
I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.
Yet you vote for someone who would like to increase the tax you pay on the fuel to go visit them.
I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.
Yet you assume that people hate you and you post something on a forum to bait people into abrasive comments.
However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.
You decry the hate of "everyone on this board" yet you put words in our mouths when nobody had yet made such comments. By the way, I don't think you're a "pig with no values", just a very deluded or naive individual who is misinformed or a liar.
I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.
Somehow I doubt that. It looks like you came here desperately looking for abuse.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.
You can try, but if you start from a hopelessly incorrect premise your reasons are irrelevant.
I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.
Here's a newsflash for you: Congress spends. I agree that spending should be contained, but a vote for Kerry is not a vote for spending restraint. If you think W's spending was reckless were you asleep when the costs of Kerry's spending proposals were estimated?
I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?
Abortion is not a "religious" issue but is rather an issue of the right to life vs convenience of the mother. However, since you chose to make it an issue of "faith" you voted for someone who would by force take your tax dollars and use them to pay for abortions. He would force the beliefs of those who don't share your faith down YOUR throat by making you pay for abortions. How can you find that acceptable if you are what you claim to be?
I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?
The Constitution does not in any way assert rights to gay marriage. If you support the Constitution, then you would find the kind of activist judges who set aside the rule of law and who decree their own will from the bench as super-legislators that cannot be removed by the people as offensive as the rest of us do.
I hope this thread stays up so people can see a good example of trolls pretending to be someone they aren't. There is little doubt that your little autobiography is a complete fabrication. I doubt that you attend church regularly, and I doubt that you are a stay-at-home mom. But regardless, we don't hate you because of your vote for Kerry; we pity you for your ignorance and lack of understanding.
LOL! That's a keeper, great name for a band, you mind if I use it in my tagline?
Hope you still see this marykatherine,
First, if you want to read some real hate, go back to DU.
Second, if there is one thing I have learned from FR, don't come here looking for sympathy. We disagree with each other all the time on FR, but have the knowledge to defend ourselves. Cry babies have no place here.
Third, this is a conservative forum, you should have known that, if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
Fourth, in any case, thanks, this was fun.
I do. [snicker]
Like a discussion on a previous thread, why is being pro-life exclusive to Christianity? I would think even an athiest could grasp the concept that a fetus is a baby, since it has its own DNA, its own brain, it's own body...and that ending a pregnancy with abortion is murdering that baby.
I have a hunch an "Ashley05" will show up any time now...
I, for one, don't "hate" you. I do think you are sadly misinformed.
Time to play Whack-A-Troll!
Well said!
This is an insult to pigs everywhere...I'm telling PETA
Lol, hilarious.
The entertainment value of Freeper reactions toward trolls is priceless.
I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. When someone says "this country needs to do more" it usually means "the government needs to do more". By the way, do you know who said this: "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."? (Hint: it wasn't John F Kerry)
Wow! Then either you need to go back to watching Sesame Street so you can learn to count higher, or you consider even the slightest disagreement with what you stated to be "name-calling".
You evil, bad, Wolfy you....
