3000 kids whose parents couldn't be bothered to come get them? That's horrifying.
Yeah really. I guess they wanted a babysitter for the night.
Me too! I guess I need to head home.
Evenin' folks...
Really enjoyed the President's speech this morning. I wish I could've seen the parade. Especially if there were any shots of hippies getting maced. :-)
With regard to the protestors... I'm frankly disappointed. These protestors today... they're just not up to the quality of past protestors. Their ideological positions are lame, and worse than that... most of them don't even seem to know what the protest is about. Seems like they're so easily manipulated you could get them to protest just about anything. Just put up some handbills for a meeting with free weed, and whip them up into a frenzy to go protest the "Disney-fication of Corporate HydroChemical Fascists" and "Down with Big Coffee!!!".
They'd fall for it... I'm tellin' ya.
Hehehe, we should try that sometime!
No blood for coffee!! :-)
[sigh]
Well... evenin' for now. Got some shopping to go do before the stores close.
Later!
We had an episode one morning in December when the schools didn't delay opening, and buses got stuck trying to ascend the hill to the high school. There were fender benders all over town because the light rain turned to sleet then ice when it hit the roads. It warmed up within a couple of hours, but it was a mess until then.
They have some trucks. They usually spread sand but you can only count on the major highways being cleared on day one.
I have a friend who moved to Birmingham after having lived in New Jersey for about 15 years. When they got an ice storm once, he and another guy in his office, who had also lived up North, made it in to work. They laughed about the 'road crew' they saw; one guy in a pickup truck throwing sand out on the interstate ramps!
I think that's the road crew here, too. You'd think Coloradans would know how to clean up snow, wouldn't you?
Oh well. As long as the buses run, I'm fine. If they don't run, college gets closed anyway.
I'd probably be in the market for it, but I have a feeling I wouldn't fit on it :) Sounds like a cool collector's item, though.
With red, white, blue, and green filters, it can handle just about any tactical need out there. Press the base cap for intermittent use, or screw it in completely for always-on. Just rotate the ring to bring the right colored filter in front of the LED, which is at the 6 o'clock position on the flashlight.
.
The clear filter provides the best color rendition, while red preserves night vision. Green is supposed to be for "map reading", but works for navigation, because the human eye is most sensitive to green. Blue is supposed to "detect liquids". I would have preferred a subdued turquoise light, which is best for NVGs. Still, it's small (1.5 times the length of the single AA battery), has a pocket clip and thong hole, and is water resistant. If I was shipping out, this would be on my "must have" list. It beats even the Photon Micro-lights in my opinion, although it costs more. AA batteries are easier to find than those calculater batteries.
Just something to add to the list of geeky items I have tested and approved.
Morning! Just in from the ball. Pictures forthcoming. Am tired. :)
It's a great day to be an American.
Drink lots of water, and aspirin will work better than acetaminophen :)
Looking forward to the pix.
Cool stuff winmag. You're like our very own Inspector Gadget.
Mornin'
Up and waiting for the phone to ring. Gots a bored meeting today in Richmond. Some of the folks were concerned about travel.
So the boss says "if this happens, we'll do this" or "if THIS happens, we'll do THIS..." Sheesh...make a flippin' decision and stick with it...
Just got my first call...she ain't coming and I don't blame her...
~sigh~
that's two...
