Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I have always been pleased with VerveHosting. They have their own blogware now...it was fairly easy to set up. I am still learning how to do some of their features and am a little afraid to start messing with their css templates, but for the most part I think it is better than Moveable Type. I havent tried WordPress, but it has some pleasing things about it. The only thing I dont like about Verves blogware is that it does not show which category an individual post is saved into...I have written them requesting them to design something like that but I have yet to see it come about.

I now realize that the actual shipping of the knives is a big cause of anxiety for me. Using standard USPS "free" priority mail makes things a bit easier. So do domestic mailings, where I can create the stamps I need online, and then just drop off at the PO without standing in line.
While packaging the two cuda knives, I had to scrounge for the proper boxes. I found the boxes the ER knives were shipped in. They're big, but a bit too big for what I really wanted. Had to use a ton of filler in them.
I ordered some boxes that were of a more practical size, from uline.com. I placed the online order yesterday afternoon. When I came back from the post office, I was stuned to find my boxes had arrived, less than 24 hours after ordering. That was with the standard $8 shipping. I hate to think what "express" service would have gotten me.
So for $61, I now have 100 of these babies. I might just fold them with the brown side on the outside, so they don't stand out so much. They're a bit on the small side, so there's that invisible "steal me" sign on it. But they're still bigger than the USPS videotape-sized box, which I ship so many HH knives in.

Morning, hobbits and hobbit-friends!
Happy Inauguration Day!

Well, since I'm feeling crappy, I'm gonna stay in bed all day and just watch the festivities! That's after I drive Joseph to school. SSQ had a doctor's appt. at 6:45 am, so he couldn't take him. That's all right; I'll just bundle up.
Have you seen the movie Cold Mountain? We watched half of it last night. It's a pretty good movie, and I love the music.

Didn't care much for the movie, tho. I'd rank it down with Legends of the Fall. Prolly 'cuz Jude Law gives me the creeps.

Good morning! We had a little bit of snow last night, but no ice...which is a nice change. It's not quite as cold as yesterday, but after today it's supposed to be well below zero at night for quite awhile, as I understand it. At least we had a brief reprieve.

Still haven't worked up to drinking coffee again. Which is a bad thing. Maybe in a couple of days...then I can be human again.
Happy Inauguration Day!

I'm going back to bed now that I'm home from taking Joseph to school Gonna watch some of the inaugural events. Missed them last time cause we were winging our way to Key West. We were excited that night to discover that the condo we rented had cable and FoxNews!! It was so nice watching Inaugural coverage without the snarkiness usually present on the MSM.

We went to the inauguration (thanks to J.D. Hayworth!!) last time and were in the first standing section behind the seats. It was great! But it was sooooooo cold and damp and miserable.
We decided we weren't going to do that again this year and didn't even try to get tix. Then the weather was so lovely and warm that we were having regrets about not trying to go. That's why I'm kind of glad we got that storm yesterday - it's now cold and miserable again!
