Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Man, I only got 94... I think that test is biased toward slightly older geeks and nerds.
What'cha up to? I'm watching a - well, call it "Encylopedia Brown of Japan", that's close enough. No brain cells required for this anime. Just detective crap. And wondering if I can work up the righteous indignation to write to the company and give them heck about Americanizing character names...

Well, sure, older geeks and nerds are geekier/nerdier by definition I think... we've had longer to perfect it.
Watching Caddyshack for the umpteenth time and browsing FR here...
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Caddyshack, eh? I don't quite get that film... watched it and it didn't really hit my funny spot. I'm not sure why. It had a lot of crudity, I think, and that always takes away from my fun...
Mmm, I cooked nice ribs to take for lunch tomorrow. My new coworker is pretty decent for being Muslim but he doesn't seem to use deoderant, so I don't care if my lunch offends him.

Yes, it definitely is crude! But then, I like crude humor.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I don't like seeing people humiliated, unless they're really bad guys, like the prince in "Princess Bride". Crude humor is a little different, but even if the people aren't suffering or embarrassed, they ought to be. It just bugs me.
Probably why I like puns and English sarcastic humor best.

Heh, few things are more individual than a sense of humor.
I've been having fun the past week transferring episodes of Mystery Science Theater from VHS tape to mpeg format, prepatory to burning them onto DVD. I'm loving having a DVD burner in my 'puter!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Yup, a dvd burner is something my new box will have! I have the cpu and motherboard... if I get my fellowship money soon I can order the rest of the stuff. But dvd burner may wait until I save the money for it.

I was honest, and knew that a couple of my answers would lower my score:
