LOL, that is what I was talking about.
But judging of OT's subsequent posting, I would guess that is not on her "to do" list.
Got a good deal of melting today, enough to get a big hanging limb on the ground and a lot of it cut off an moved. Truck is unencased and driveway cleared.
Just in time for Monday nite's "possible freezing drizzle" I think the firewood will stay in the kitchen for time being.
The car is washed with the underside getting two good hosings down.
The garage is still in its cleaned out state in case I need to park inside again.
That sounds like a fine set of shotguns. Military shotguns have been underappreciated for many years.
Thanks for your info on the cutts and trench/riot guns. Guess it was one those stories that got passed around enough, it was simply accepted.
You used to see lots of guns with cutts and polys on them. Don't see them as much anymore. Toyed with getting one for my shotgun but never did. Kind of glad I didn't now.
Those screw-in internal choke tubes of today pretty much do the same thing, and they're mostly invisible.
I got to see my car! I didn't know we were going to go see it or I would have brought my camera!
I wrote down all the numbers off it (chassis and engine) and found out that I have a completely original 1970 "Yukon Yellow" standard 12 volt Beetle, It has black "leatherette" interior that looks woven.
According to the engine number it actually has a 1968 1500cc engine in it! It has the old-timey looking steering wheel like I like (they made a more modern looking steering wheel the next year) and also the flat windshield, not rounded out in the front. Very cute.
That said...it looks AWFUL. It's going to require a lot of work, however the engine looked really pretty good. The man turned a wheel-like jobber in there that usually has a belt on it, you know and it turned smoothly. He and Steve looked at each other like this was very significant. Steve looked pleased.
We're picking it up over spring break...Steve just can't get to it before then and so I get it for my birthday. I'm going to call it My Precious.
That's exciting! But a long time to wait. How long will it take to get running?
Yep tomorrow will be a not so TPR day for Rosie.
Oh fabulous!
"Yukon Yellow"="Colostrum poo brown"
Are you going to paint it red?
2J's getting a PRECIOUS!! I'm so excited for you. I remember that color! It's really attractive!
I don't remember it being very baby poo looking! ;o) Though I must admit, the darkish green was my favorite beetle color.
A LOOOONGGGG time! The top looks pretty good, but a lot of the bottom is very rusty (common problem). The front end beam is really bad and will have to be replaced. It's missing a front fender. The upholstery is all original and is in terrible shape...literally disintegrating. Too much to list here but it's going to be a work in progress for a long time, which is kinda what we wanted.
Oh...the hood isn't original...I forgot about that. Everything else is.
Ping to 4105, Will_Zurmacht
Heh! Now it's a very pale "butter" color.
We'll probably try to paint it Yukon Yellow...Steve likes the idea of getting it back to the way it was, or as close as possible.
All the parts to fix it are not that expensive...bought a little at a time. And the idea is that we do as much as we can ourselves. I'm really very excited! It ought to be fun!
I will take pictures if we ever get out there again before spring break. It's out in a field...
2J, you're here! I have been waiting for you. That is great news about your new... er... old... car.
elf-boy is sickly. I think he has either strep or tonsilitis. He has had a fever of 101 F and higher (more often around 102 and up to 103.3 this morning) since Friday. Motrin only get's it down to 99 or 100 if that much. If I had known he was sick on Friday, I would have been able to get him into the doc yesterday morning. As it is, it will have to be tomorrow. His glands are the size of robin eggs., and his tonsils are swollen such that he has difficulty swallowing and talking.
My question is when should I consider taking him to the emergency room?
But does it have the luggage area between the back seat and rear window? The bug we had in Hawaii when I was a kid had this. We used to call dibs on who got to ride in the "puka".
glad tuh hear about yer new wheels... cain't wait tuh here it putterin' down our lane...
btw, correction to my last... we gots 13 eggses tuhday... we gots 14 hens... gotta find the slacker and wave a skillet at her...
In both cases you are correct.
Sounds pretty tempting.
It tears me up to think about having to make that kind of decision for one of mine, and these folks need all the prayers they can get. Jen's Dad is feeling very guilty because it happened as they were clearing trees on some property they had bought. He'll be second guessing himself for a long time, I suspect, though it was nothing but a horrible accident, and none of his fault. Please pray for God's Will to be done, that she be healed in body, or healed in spirit by death. Mostly, please pray for peace for her family.
Thanks, everybody.
Oh, my...
Yes, certainly. That's horrible.
I do fee horrible for the family and the dad. Prayers for them.
Prayers Up.
