Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

There's also a Irish pub that holds sessions on Sunday nights.
I checked.
Said it's a pretty laid back session without a lot of hot shot players, which is just fine by me!

Absolutely. I haven't stopped in yet but it's about a mile or so from my place.
What's the Irish pub called? I think I might know which one, in which case it looks like a very nice place.

AFter I got home Wednesday from doing all my errands, I decided I wanted a fire. I kept that thing stoked all evening long. It is very relaxing not only watching, but listening to the crackle and hiss of a fireplace.

I'm caught up now...
...can I go home?
To: RosieCotton
Yeah, I think that's in Old Town - the restored section of restaurants and boutiques downtown. It's really nice. Lots of cool places and great restaurants. Nicest area north of the college, most of the time I stay south.

Linden Street, it says. Sounds like they have a lot of music going on, besides the session. Open mic nights more than one night a week. Those can be fun! Of course, at worst they are like kareoke without even the decent backup music, but...that's entertaining sometimes, too.

Yup, I know where that is! Good place. No parking, though, you have to park in a big city lot and walk.
Karaoke's too fun, now and then. It's a nice open place, big windows, very cheerful-looking.

Maybe I'll drag you there with me once in awhile, then. ;-) Instruct you in the ways of Guiness and Baileys...
Supposedly the fiddler that leads the session is awesome. I'd love to just listen!

I prefer the bunny with the pancake on his head. Did you know the bunny's name is Oolong? Only he's an ex-bunny...

They have lots of microbreweries around, and some people swear by the beer, but I just can't get past the smell.
Maybe the Bailey's, though.
