Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

No, but I have a book with the words "Don't Panic" on the cover in nice friendly letters. Does that help?

I gotta start de-crapping my house, too! We want to have less stuff to move there and back again during the remodel. Keep nagging me from time to time, too!

BTW, Ruthy...tonight was our Irish session, but the weather was so bad only the Cottons showed up. I told Bilbo and Margaret it was your birthday, so we all sang for ya. Could you hear us? ;-)

I love Koontz' style, personally. Some folks don't.
I just finished reading 2 of his books in the last few weeks. The Taking, which was kind of weird/cool and Life Expectancy, which was really a page turner (it had Becky's birthday as one of the "days of woe" by happenstance).

LOL!
You know...the silly thing is...the part that scares me the most isn't the move...it's the fact that I'm terrified of driving anywhere bigger than this...this being about 8000 people.
I dunno how I'm going to handle the adjustment. On the other hand, from what little I've seen, Western towns tend to be better laid out and less slapdash than Eastern towns, and therefore often easier to navigate.

Its really frustrating, because eBay seems to be the ONLY auction 'house' online. I am looking at Amazon.com right now, but there doesnt seem ot be much action going on.
I tried taking my stuff to a local SciFi/SW dealer in town. Most he offered was 25.00 for the whole box. I don't mind taking a reduced amount, but sheesh! I spent a lot of time and money hunting these things down. I don't want someone else profitting off all my hard work and shiny pennies! At least not too much. That was a rip off.
What irks me the most is that the only ones collecting SW now are the kiddos, and all THEY know and care about is the doozy CGI special effects of the new movies...the old clunkers dont impress them. The new movies are trash, though.

I wish I could have, sis!
But just knowing you all did that just humbles me. I'm very lucky to have such thoughtful friends.
*snif* Now you've done gone and made me tear up!

Did you find that dancing Spidey gif? I'd love to show that to my older sons. We were laughing earlier about the dances that the different races do in "World of Warcraft" when they've defeated someone.

I haven't read more than one of Koontz' books, so don't take my remarks as a diss of his writing, just of the trends I see in that genre. I have heard Koontz is one of the best authors out there, thriller or no, and I'd like to read some of his stuff.
