Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Just checked... the Monk marathon is on USA now. We'll tune in for the next episode at the top of the hour and check it out.

Good evening. Back from the annual bacchanalia of lights. Getting the bothers to bed. There is nothing of interest to report here.

She likes the gun because it has nice iron sights and she doesn't like scopes. Thinks they get knocked out of alignment too easy.Nagant sniper rifles had a left-side mount with a "bidge" that brought the scope high over the action centerline. Also used a special bent-down bolt handle. Modern aftermarket equivalents are readily available.
Decent scopes and mounts don't "get out of alignment". Of course, you have to pay more than $9.95 to get a decent mount and rings.
If you're a perfectionist, you do what I do. Lap-in the rings, dust the inside of the rings with rosin, torque the torkx screws (throw away the original mounting screws) to factory specs, apply loctite.
Simple.

Well, the gal buys her guns at pawn shops... she prolly doesn't spend much on scopes or mounts either ;~D
She's a trader. She doesn't bond with anything, she'll trade it in for something else next week, vehicles, guns, whatever :~D

Yes, I've never had a scope get out of alignment, 'course I'm reasonably careful with my guns, which I consider generally to be precision instruments, with the possible exception of my Mossberg 500 with 18" barrel, no choke.

I don't have TV - cable, satellite or anything. So if I can't get anything on DVD or VHS, I don't see it. Most of the time it's just as well, but there are a few things I'd kinda like to see. Monk looks worth checking into. Maybe it'll be at rental places eventually.

Gotta wait until after the eggnog and fudge and Christmas chocolates are gone, and then I'll be back on, too. Hopefully get back into using the treadmill, too.
Getting up early is painful, but worth it in the long run.
But I still have a few more days...

I think "Monk" might, like me, make you wince in sympathy pain.
Did I tell you my sibs and I got halfway through FMwS last night? And my brother's head didn't explode from cuteness? But they threatened death if I played "Myself" in the car today.

We like "Monk" a lot! There's going to be a "Monk Marathon" on USA network tomorrow. We'll have to check in from time to time to see if we can catch some that we missed the first (or second) time around.

Aside from those shortcomings, it's alternately fun and painful to watch Monk operate while teetering on the brink of insanity. So true!

I still listen to the sound track for FMwS all the time! All the versions, too...
The opening song for Fruits Basket is just gorgeous, though. The ending song is fun, but I love that opener.
