Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm pleased that your Dad likes the book. You know he's proud of you, and that Theresa likes the book. Those are the most important things! Were they able to incorporate Stephen's drawing in the book? I don't remember if you said whether or not they did.
We got about 5 inches of snow. It snowed from noon yesterday until almost 6 this morning. We could have gotten really hammered if there'd been any more to it. As it was, it was fairly thin, just long lasting. As much as I hate dealing with driving in it, it's lovely to watch coming down.

After Christmas funkle!! I gotta go make some fudge, and I'm gonna use your Dad's recipe! I never got around to it before Christmas, and I told a friend I'd bring some to her Holiday Open House tonight.

Good afternoon!
Back from the movie. It was fun, and we got in free, which is even better. Now it'll be a nice quiet afternoon...

If you have some Christmas funds left, here's something that may appeal to
some of you. It's a $160 computerized long-gun vault being closed out for $30 at www.sportsmansguide.com, item AX5X-88412.

From the photos, it has an anchor point for a cable, along with a bracket for bolting to a wall stud, plus a carrying handle. There is also a key backup to go along with the computerized keypad.
I'm not sure if it's really as good as it looks, but I bought one for testing and evaluation. For a cost of $38 including shipping, I'm willing to risk it.

Hey that looks like a pretty cool thing for someone concerned about security of their guns.... for either theft or kids.

In the preview, it looked as though Jim Carrey was LESS Jim Carrey than usual, which, in my opinion, is a good thing. ;o)

I made a couple of batches of fudge. For one large batch, I used Ghiradelli Double Chocolate chips (it has bittersweet chocolate in it!), and another, I used Ghiradelli White baking chips. Half of the white I used for Cherry Fudge, and the other half for Cranberry Fudge. My friend wanted to try some Cranberry cause she doesn't like Cherry, so I told her I'd make it. She's having a Holiday Open House tonight, so I'm bringing it over along with some chocolate, as well. I'm going to do one more batch with Hershey's Special Dark chips and add some toasted pecans. Mmmm.

So how did it turn out? Do you like it? Is it the most heavenly thing you've ever tasted?? The double chocolate is divine. I made some for my mother (with macadamias and cherries).
I always reserve a spoonful of each batch... just to check the set, y'know. ;)
