In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

This is my lone post of the night. I enjoyed your rhyme scheme...and a beer.
I have just been at the Catholic church getting ready for Lillie's baptism tomorrow. I don't remember my family having a huge get together and party for any of our baptisms, but apparently it is a big thing in Ecuador and we have in laws flying in, and they are bringing gifts, music and adult beverages. We are very warm but restrained, in a southern protestant way. I am preparing myself for culture clash.
I have had an old Bugs Bunny skit running through my head all day..."What do they do on a rainy night in Rio?..."
Hi, Dutchgirl:
I'm sure that Lillie will have a wonderful baptism. With lots of family and joyous well-wishing.
Don't worry about about culture clash. Relax. Tomorrow's going to be all about Lillie. Accept compliments and gifts graciously as they are given and enjoy the celebration of life.
Jack.
It will be a joyous occasion. I love baptisms. They make me misty.
Last one out and first one back? Not a good sign...
Thanks, Loney-it sounds delicious, but I can't eat right after cooking something that has a strong aroma-every time I cook stew, soup, saute onions or garlic or bake bread I have to wait until late at night ot the next day to eat it-I actually feel like I've already eaten a large helping of it. Hence, I grill meat outside at every opportunity so I can eat it while it is fresh and hot-hubby thinks I'm nuts...
Morning-I'm going to enjoy the quiet and read for a bit-while hubby is setting up his saw and planer to cut some wood to make more bookshelves for the loft...
I'm heading out for some early sales. I'll be back much later, hopefully to read. I've got Ben Stein's latest book and it's a good one.
Then her OTHER grandma, grandpa, great grandma and two great grandpas arrived...Father Fred explained the significance of the ceremony, and a melding of Catholic and Protestant cultures, Catholic God-mother, Protestant Christian Witness "God-father" occured within 100 miles of Matanzas Bay.
We drank alot of wine and indulged (wings, cheese, shrimp, snow peas)in alot of family story telling. It turns out that Lillian was born (prematurely) on St. Anselm's feast day. You've never heard of St. Anselm? He is the patron saint of the ontological argument.
How appropriate is that?
My daughter's pediatrician, also Catholic, mother of 6 boys, agreed to see Lillie tomorow after worship, if she is still running a temp. And you thought the age of miracles had passed...
A wonderful, joyous day, Dutchgirl! One you and your family will treasure forever.
Jack.
such promise.........
Getting the doc to see the baby on a Sunday - that IS a miracle! I hope she is feeling better soon.
congratulations to all of you, sounds like a wonderful day! but your links didn't work for me and i was disappointed. where is matanzas bay?
what were you doing up so late Ms. SG????
After military maneuvering from, what is now called, Matanzas Bay, he attacked Fort Caroline by land and subsequently defeated the French forces. Then, following orders from King Phillip II of Spain, he had French prisoners executed. The Bay was thereafter known as Matanzas, which means slaughter in Spanish.
Matanzas Bay is in St. Augustine . The "French forces" mentioned here are Huguenot pilgrims.
The other one St. Anselm
try this link.
OMG i have tears running down my face, i copied it to send to xsbro, who HAS lived in TX and likes chili and will laugh himself sick over it!
