In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

What's "roshky"?
Well, I actually just googled it to see what the rest of the world thinks, and the rest of the world thinks they are what my Grandma just called "poppyseed rolls". The things I'm making this weekend (called roshky on the top of the recipe that my mom typed for my grandma....) are these tiny little nut rolls on a very very flaky pastry. The pastry is mostly butter, eggs, flour.....folded over and over, refrigerated, rolled, folded, refrigerated, etc. etc. until I finally cut out 2 inch squares, fill them with walnut filling, and roll them up. Takes me all day. Sprinkle with powdered sugar when done.
LMAO!!!!! i love it!
oh we just called them nut rolls. my mom passed away 15 years ago and i have not had them since! i make poppyseed bread, but i haven't done a nutroll ever. i am not even sure i had the recipe anywhere. i know it was EXTRMELY labor intensive when my mom made them and she always made five million to make it worth the effort!

I think I end up making about 10-12 dozen. About half will go to the church bazaar next weekend for the bake table, and the rest will go into my freezer for Christmas.
My younger sister and I had to decode the recipe a few years back after my Grandma passed. We both nearly fell over when we got to the instruction "Fold as you would a man's large handerchief." WTF???
I love Grand Cayman and the turtle farm and the town called "hell." That's where I want to retire.

Are you writing about Arafat's funeral? You get an A for the word usage, but I have no idea of what you are writing.
When my Dad retired from the USAF, we lived in Fort Lauderdale and he worked as a private pilot. (He even flew Kissinger around South Florida)
We would go to the Bahamas and stay at the private island (near Eluthera) of a client who only used his house at Christmas. We didn't use the house. We camped. One night the mosquitos were so bad, we set up our lounge chairs and slept in the warm water. When we flew away the next morning we could see a school of sharks... in the crystal clear water a few hundred feet from where we'd been sleeping.
