oh we just called them nut rolls. my mom passed away 15 years ago and i have not had them since! i make poppyseed bread, but i haven't done a nutroll ever. i am not even sure i had the recipe anywhere. i know it was EXTRMELY labor intensive when my mom made them and she always made five million to make it worth the effort!
I think I end up making about 10-12 dozen. About half will go to the church bazaar next weekend for the bake table, and the rest will go into my freezer for Christmas.
My younger sister and I had to decode the recipe a few years back after my Grandma passed. We both nearly fell over when we got to the instruction "Fold as you would a man's large handerchief." WTF???
