Word For The Day, Friday, November 12, 2004
Friday, November 12, 2004 | Slip 18

Posted on 11/12/2004 4:21:54 AM PST by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

New WFTD:

Nuisance– noun

This word is pronounced “new sense.”

Etymology: French again. Sheesh!

1) Harm, injury.
2) law An offense, annoying obnoxious or obnoxious thing that or practice: a cause or source of annoyance that although a single act is usually a continuing or repeated invasion or disturbance of another’s right.
3) A person that annoys by usually by obtrusion: pest.
4) A) A vexing, difficult or distressing practice or a state of things. B) Something that is disagreeable or troublesome: annoyance.

Adjective

1) Possession of the ability to annoy, distress or hamper.
2) Constituting a nuisance – used especially of wild animals.

Why is it I can never get the blue font on the second word? It is driving me CRAZY!

xs was saying, "How do you say I know, but "how" is "comO" and she typed "come" which would be the verb "comer" = "to eat", so I had to have a little fun with it.

Xsex always seems to have fun when she comes to eat.

Wait. That's backwards. Eats first. Then comes.

I think we gave it to each other in here. Most of us have it. As I recall, Miss Mommy had it first. Did she send us over some cookies or something she had baked?

So we're only two hours' difference in time. I can never tell with all you all doing your time changing thing. You'd think time was like a diaper where you're changing it all the time.

That was a typical Green Jello song.

Eventually they have Rambo come in and take care of the Big Bad Wolf.

My baby sister and her husband like to cruise. This is a picture of the sister of my sister's boat. (got that)

They lost their house and three businesses in Hurricane Ivan and have been living on the boat. It is not as much fun without the endless margaritas and barracudas to club to death.

My hubby wants to take me on a cruise for our 25th anniversary- which will just happen to co-incide with our youngest son's senior year in high school.

My fantasy isn't the cruise (with food and sun and fun and men in short white shorts bringing me beverages with umbrellas and fruit.) Oh no. My fantasy is coming home to an empty house. AAAAhhhhh.

amusements such as archeological visits

I love to camp. My dream vacation is more Grand Canyon than Grand Cayman.

I spent a weekend in Tiajuana once. I found the most useful phrase to be " soy una lesbiana con una enfermedad contagiosa."

Homeland Security Election Results:

John Kerry has been reduced for a threat to a nuisance
Tom Daschle has been downgraded from asspain to historical footnote
The warning on Ted "the swimmer" Kennedy (D-Chivas Regal) remains unchanged, if you can not avoid Fat Ted atleast wear a floatation device.

Yes I'm still gloating.
