Could Bush be elected again? (VANITY)
Posted on 11/10/2004 12:16:38 PM PST by republicanbob1
Something I was thinking today. Could bush be elected again? I was thinking he was appointed by the Supreme Court in 2000 and this time he was elected. So technically he was only elected once. So could he run again? Im sure Bush wont run again Im not saying that at all. Just something I was curious about.

You guys just don't get it. He stole both elections so he can be elected two more times. Works for me!

As they say in computer programming, RTFM (Read the Frigging Manual). If you had bothered to read the Constitution, you would not have asked such a silly question.
The operative language of the 22nd Amendment says, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."
The history of the election of 2000 demonstrates that he was elected then. Votes cast in the Electoral College duly counted by Congress in January, 2001, established that fact. But if you go with the absurd conclusion that President Bush was not "elected" in 2000, what follows?
Your premise leads to the conclusion that Al Gore was "elected" in 2000. Bush has already "served" more than two years of the Gore "term." So the alternative provision in the 22nd Amendment plainly says that 1) Bush is not eligible to run again, and 2) You didn't do your homework.

NO, President Bush CANNOT run for Vice President. The Constitution provides that no one who is ineligible to be President can run for Vice President. Therefore, he is disqualified from both offices.

Selected, Elected, we won, who gives a darn. What is funny is what the Liberals (e.g. Randi Rhodes) say.
W and all us Republicans are "fly over" country rubes whose greatest achievement is getting their 14 year old cousins pregnant. All of us are sittin' on our front porch, next to our washing machine and shotgun, spitting tobacco juice on the dirt through missing teeth.
However, on election day, we morph into crafty vote thieves who are able to hack political voting machines so that the true will of the only people who really matter (can you say NYC, Chicago, Boston, LA, Frisco, and Miami) is ignored. We are also able to register voters who don't exist and (for a short period, completely subvert the electoral process.
In fact, we are so subtle that, in 2000, we even were able to cause all the good folks of heavily Democratic Palm Beach County either to fail to be able to push a hole in a ballot (we gave these folks the Kevlar ballots reserved for Democrats only), or to vote for Pat Robertson or Buchanan or someone named Pat (we gave these folks special "Pat" ballots - where all the candidates names were Pat (no last names)).
How do we pull off these evil deeds - the answer is simple, Carl Rove is channeling all of the elected Democratic elections supervisors!
Then, like the Cicadia, in a week or so, we disappear back to our rural huts, only to emerge again on election day.

People People Im not a troll and Im not trying to lie about anything. HA! It was just a question. It's a tough job once you've been "outed", but maybe they'll give you a break since you're from Kentucky and obviously really didn't seam to understand 'The People' did indeed elect Bush president in 2000.

Speaking of Randi Rhodes she tries to act like this last election was stolen as well. RIDICULOUS! She keeps talking about voter fraud. Which is Garbage! She keeps saying " I find it hard to believe people voted for more war instead of peace." Please! People voted for someone with a spine instead of someone who wants to try to make everyone in the world happy at the same time.

EXCELLENT satirical writing skills, I must say! Well done!

Thank you .... Republicans can be either "selected" or "elected" .... Democrats seem to have "dejected" and "rejected" working for them.

I was thinking No you weren't. If you are really Republican, which I doubt, you would not be repeating this lie.
Gore had the option of recounting, but he wanted to cherry-pick which counties to recount. SCOTUS said the entire state had to be counted if a recount occurred.
Gore, knowing he would lose a state-wide recount, demurred rather than risk embarrassment.

No bob, you are still not quite there.
The US SC did not call for a recount. They stopped the partial recount that the dems wanted. Fla. law says recount the whole state or don't recount anything. The whole state could not be recounted in the time that was left. There was a certain date by when all the recount had to be finished. Those are Fla. election laws that were in place before the election started, but you knew that didn't you. You really are a troll aren't you!
