About a year ago, Newt Gingrich was on Sean Hannity discussing the capabilities of the Department of State. Newt said that the State Department needed a massive flushing and reorganization similar to what Donald Rumsfeld had done in the Department of Defense. I agree with Newt and would like to see him become the next Secretary of State. All comments welcome!

Rudy/ Sick him on the Euros, he will bring them to heel. They will not be able to bad mouth him. It would send a strong message to the ME and China too. He also could clean out State.

I think John McCain would be very good at it. He's not a hardliner and a good negotiator. He has a good record on foreign policy and garners a lot of international respect.

They should eliminate that nest of vipers. Same for the CIA.
Oh yeah, revert the Defense Department to the War Department.
A guy like me could never get elected.

The job ain't open, there's a good man in the job that you insult with your question.
We won this election, but some on the right aren't happy unless they are complaining.
When, and if, the job becomes available, we can discuss our wish lists... until then, this kind of backstabbing is undeserved and divisive to what should be a great victory period!

Newt's the right guy, but would he be confirmed by the Senate?
Oh, the howls his nomination would set off among the MSM! Simultaneously nominating Ashcroft for the next Supreme Court vacancy would cause half of those loons to implode... ;)
To: leprechaun9
Donald Rumsfeld should replace Powell.
Rudy Guiliani should replace Ashcroft.
Ashcroft should be nominated for the next opening on the USSC.
Too hardcore?
