About a year ago, Newt Gingrich was on Sean Hannity discussing the capabilities of the Department of State. Newt said that the State Department needed a massive flushing and reorganization similar to what Donald Rumsfeld had done in the Department of Defense. I agree with Newt and would like to see him become the next Secretary of State. All comments welcome!

Rudy/ Sick him on the Euros, he will bring them to heel. They will not be able to bad mouth him. It would send a strong message to the ME and China too. He also could clean out State.

I think John McCain would be very good at it. He's not a hardliner and a good negotiator. He has a good record on foreign policy and garners a lot of international respect.

I think John McCain would be very good at it. President Bush will not appoint a Republican Senator from a state with a Democrat Governor to any Cabinet position.

Condi Rice.
This would parallel the Nixon administration where Henry the K. starts out as NSA in the first term and ends up at State for the second term. Forget what happened under Reagan put wouldn't surprise me if something of the sort happened then too.

Your right.. That was a dumb idea....
