The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It's fifty degrees, the sun is shining, the sky is cloudless, the snow is melting like crazy. Interesting weather...

I've got his address somewhere - isn't there a reverse lookup we could do?

*sniff*

I'm alll, alllll alone. Margaret asked me and Stephen to go to a concert with her and her violin building teacher, and we went out to eat quickly before - Margaret and I split a meal, so it wasn't too bad price wise. But when we got to the concert place, it had been cancelled 'cause the weather is lousy.

And I don't want to go anywhere else, because the weather is lousy.

And Margaret and Stephen went back to the house so they wouldn't get stuck here if it got still lousier.

So I'm all alone on a Friday night with nowhere to go and nothing to do...

*sigh*

A couple questions, in fact.
One about draw weight, another about recurve, and what that does for you. I might be interested in building a recurve just because they look cool.

Also, wondering what was the evolution of the Ferret bow, which is rather a handsome thing, now that there are 4 of 'em sitting here.

Hi Rosie. I just went to figure drawing class, only to find out it was cancelled too. Not from weather, though.

Good evening!

I suppose it's a sign I should be reading or writing...but it's still irritating to be stuck home on a Friday night!

Rosie, are you the one sending all those wonderful articles on writing or is it someone else?

I have forgotten who is associated with what username...anyway, whoever it is : I LOVE THE ARTICLES!!

I am a centimeter or two closer to homeschooling!!!!! That sounds like a defeatist statement, but its actually a happy thing for me. I believe God is placing things in my path to make it happen. I went to a needlework group party yesterday, it was my second meeting with them. There were lots of people there, among them a woman about my age with a daughter the same age as mine who is homeschooling! So I spent a majority of the time talking to her...practically hogged her from her friends, I am afraid, although I didnt mean to. I was just so happy to find someone a hop and a skip away that was doing what I wanted to do.

The speedbump however, is not just my husband wanting to hold off till next fall, which I feel in my heart would be a mistake, but my daughter is resistant as well. Poor thing, all she can think about is how she will miss her friends, alhtough half of the class has announced that they will not be coming back next year. I really dont want to wait until 6th grade to do this, especially since I want to get started ont he Well trained Mind curriculum.

Looks like I have some strong prayers to send up in the nexxt couple of weeks or so.
