Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
One of the great truths to come out of Entmoot...
Yikes! Completely in half? I guess I hadn't heard that part.
I need to listen better!
A funklesome good morning to all!
It's snowy. We're supposed to get upwards of six inches tonight...after freezing rain during the day.
The snow isn't necessarily bad. But I've had enough freezing rain, thank you!
Glad it's Friday! If the weather is bad tomorrow, I don't hafta go out in it if I don't want to!
dude... God bless 'em...
nnnngggg.... more coffee...
I'd like some snow.... drizzle and high 30s here...
great day tuh werk outside...
Oh my...
I am glad they got the coasties out...I really was down after that BH crashed in Texas. Poor family members...right here before Christmas.
Good morning, everyone. Enjoying my first cup of coffee (that Steve left on the bedside table.)
Mornin'...
Stayed up too late last night. But I got a letter finished for pool members (shoulda gone out in October). I can stuff the envelopes tonight between scenes.
And I got our family Christmas "letter" web page done.
Problem is though...Tripod. I can't access my account from home. I can from here which makes me think I've got something blocking it at home. I allowed Popups for Tripod (which are as annoying as heck). Any other ideas what I might need to do to regain access?
Did those coasties survive? I thought the water was like 43 degrees. Or were they just able to retrieve their bodies? At least their families will have that.
SSQ and I watched a special on the Discovery Channel one night about the CG SAR folks in that area. What a harrowing occupation!
An accident going somewhere to happen?
Was this an 'Open Mike' type thing Rosie, or is this your group with a new tenor banjo type person?
Neither. It's an Irish session we're trying to start. Basically just means people get together to play music - it's not a performance. Kind of the Irish version of a jam. What's kinda cool is that people who play Irish music have a lot of tunes in common, so you can go anywhere and be able to play the music - only catch (as we discovered last night) is that lots of tunes have multiple names. For example, the tenor banjo guy requested "Lilting Banshee", but we said we didn't know it, but later we played "Butcher's March", and he said "I thought you didn't know 'Lilting Banshee'?" Same tune, different name depending on where you learned it.
Heh, been there, done that. I hardly saw SSQ during the last few months before he completed then defended his dissertation! Fortunately for me, he was always up in the middle of the night, so if Paul (who was about 8 months old at the time) was cranky, he'd get him up and walk him around a bit to settle him back down. I thought he was sleeping through the night, but he wasn't. ;o)
At least they were thinking ahead! ;o)
Haven't seen that shirt. They made a Yak bag a few years ago with that statement, but I haven't seen it lately. Would have bought it for Clare or David if I could have.
GAK! I had a visceral reaction to that picture!! Harrowing is too mild a sentiment for THAT situation. Those Coasties have hugh steel ones, I must say!
I don't think we're supposed to get any snow until next Tuesday, then some more next weekend. Just so it's not snowing on Thursday night when I have to go pick David up at Logan!
BTW, was going to tell you...the tenor banjo guy is also a whistle player. He had a Sindt (spelling?) with him - guess it's a handmade whistle? It was really nice. Bilbo played it...he had a hard time giving it back.
But then, I also made the mistake of playing his banjo. Oooohh...that thing was NICE. I've never played any other Irish tuned banjos before, and it might have been better not to. *drool*
