The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Afternoon!

I think I got about half of the kitchen moved. Did three loads of laundry and left the third drying so I could get back in time to listen to the ball game.

Actually, Jr. would prefer to go with his girlfriend.

Well, you could tell Jr. that girls think it's cool when guys are sweet to little brothers. ;o)

I found out last night that the son of a friend of mine is one of the lead sound guys at AnimeBoston. He was one of the group that actually got the thing started two years ago! I talked to him last night and told him I'd come looking for him when we got there in May.

Good afternoon!

My, I was lazy, but I was up to 1 writing. I managed enough yesterday that I'm just about back on track. So today I can spend some time with homework-which-is-not-due-immediately, but needs attention anyway.

I'm trying to be optimistic, but I believe your life is starting to transfer to mine! LOL

The boys had a birthday party to go to, right? At an indoor playhouse like thing with tons of stuff to climb on, bounce on, swing on...you know? They've been excited for DAYS...really looking forward to it.

This morning, started at 10am. I got them fed and ready to go early because I needed to stop by and get a card. Rushed out to the truck (remember, no transmission in the van) and it wouldn't even turn over. Couldn't get it to jump. Nothing.

Steve went out and worked on it for about an HOUR and couldn't get it to work. It was like the battery was dead, but it wouldn't jump!

I went in the house and broke it to the boys that there was no way to get to the birthday party. It was awful. We all three stood in the living room and cried. Joshua said it was the worst day of his life. I usually can find the bright side of anything, but in this case, I couldn't. I even looked for a bus route, but they don't come down to our area...only 4 miles away. I had to agree, it was a pretty hard thing.

In the meantime, our neighbor across the street came over and fiddled with some cable with a screwdriver and got it to start! In the middle of dispair, I said "Is that the TRUCK??" Matthew shouted YES! And we all jumped in and while we were at the party (an hour late), Steve got the part to fix it...

He's still working on it. But at least the boys got to go to the party!

Hi All,

Rick offered to send some of your hobbit hole knives to my friend while he was deployed to Afghanistan during their elections.

Rick sent 6 knives for me. Friend is back from Afghanistan and checked in today. Rick asked that I pass on his message to you all:

Friend: speaking of mail, i got your hobbit.net package, it was awesome, thank you so much
Friend: i shared the gifts with the guys
ME: let me know if more guys want some
Friend: oh they do
Friend: i haven't heard the end of it, because only 5 others got them and not my platoon sergeant

Thank you from me for having such a fantastic product and ability for me to send it on to the soldiers. If you knew my friend, this was an incredible gift to get for him to say this much about anything.

The total purchased to date remains at 301. I just shipped the last I had on hand, so the total shipped is now 301. I have three dozen coming in, and will probably order more this week.

Business is booming.

Could there be any room here for a newcomer?

Welcome Flying Dutchman! We were all newcomers once.

Just be careful. Hair doesn't like it when we chip the cups and crack the plates...
