Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

RE your tagline: I have it on good authority that a geek is a nerd who can get a date. Thus, females with nerdish qualities almost always qualify as geeks, just because of their scarcity, while males have a harder time breaking the line into geekdom.
Which must be why you often meet married geeks, but rarely married nerds...

But... according to SOX requirements... the people that know the requirements are not allowed to communicate those requirements to those who must develop them (us).
I $#!t you not.
We have to present our controls to the auditors, and all they are allowed to tell us is whether they are "warmer" or "colder". They cannot even tell us whether our controls are acceptable or within common best practices or not. They cannot tell us (understand... these aren't our auditors... they are merely consultants we hired to help us understand SOX). But they aren't allowed to "give us the answers". All they are allowed to do is to render a "warmer or colder" opinion on the materials we give them.
So... we're not allowed to know what the answer is, but they make us guess a number anyway.

That makes absolutely no sense, unless the law is deliberately structured to ensure failure to comply. Which is not impossible!

I read the NY Times review of it today. The reviewer SO wanted to hate it because he thought it was too 'conservative' in it's viewpoints, but he just couldn't cause he said it was so funny.

In the initial meet-n-greet meeting with the (major accounting firm) auditors, they told us that nomatter the quality of what we present them, they *will* call out deficiences that must be presented to the Board of Directors.
They said that if they present no deficiences, then this would be evidence that they didn't look closely enough, since it is assumed under the law (I $#!t you not) that no organization can actually comply with Sarb-Ox without lying about it.
I am not kidding.
