Discussion about FreeRepublic.com, Dan Rather and amusingly a light reference to the Shroud of Turin:
"For the right-leaning bloggers, this was dynamite. They might as well have discovered that the Turin Shroud was created in Photoshop and laser-printed on to Lycra."
I've been working on a new page Pictures of Jesus on the Shroud of Turin that clearly shows that it wasn't Photoshop or some faked things.

Of course, I'm sure Dan Rather would be fooled by the Shroud of Turin and think it was real.

Werent the Templar Knights in possession of the Shroud at one time?

Templars? That is one theory. I tend to agree with historian Dan Scavone that the Shroud was in Bescone, France from about 1207-10 until 1356. Sadly, most records that could establish that as certain were destroyed during the French Revolution.
What the Templar theory has going for it is the image of Jesus found in Templecombe, England that dates to to the early 1200s and has many characteristics of the face on the Shroud.

Dan Rather claiming that the Shroud is real is one of the few thing which would make me doubt its authenticity.

I was being flip and should have been clear with my wording. Dan Rather, I suspect, would NOT think that the Shroud was genuine even if he understood the underlying history or science.

I too was joking. I am sure that Rather would never even contemplate that the Shroud is genuine, just like the vast majority of the saecularised world.
