"When we go to Nogales, there are signs that say you need a prescription to bring drugs back to the U.S."

I went with friends to Nogales one time for one of them to get meds. He took a copy of his medical information and saw a doctor in Nogales. Got a prescription for a load of Valium and Percodan which he filled at the corner drugstore. No problems getting back across the border. In fact, he spent less than $30 and that included the doctor, the drugs AND the cab ride. That was about 15 years ago. Don't know how it is now, but those folks in Nogales know how to turn a quick buck off of Americans.

Are you back home and all settled in, Gran? Did you break out the bikini and go for a walk on Catpuppy's beach yet?

OMG! That is quite a story....and one I'll bet that cop tells many times around the dinner table and at the pub with his buddies. LOL! Thankfully, it all turned okay.

I can't believe you have to live without Fox.

I can't stand that woman that plays Benson. She is such a raving feminazi. Not all episodes are so politically correct, but the ones that are are disgustingly so, to the point that I can't stand to watch it and turn it off.

Yeah; it sucks when I want to watch news, which has actually been a lot less for the past year than before, even when I still had Fox. The cable company I have here really stinks. Cox cable doesn't come out quite this far, and they're the ones that have all the good stuff.

I should know their names - but is Benson Mariska Hargitray?
I always forget who her mother is - some famous 1950/60s (?)movie star. I don't remember getting upset at SVU other than when they show her partner's spoiled brat children... but maybe because I thought SVU was good by comparison to the original L & O.

That Nogales story sounds good; I should try that sometime. I just hate how you practically have to pull teeth to get anything up here. And, I pay enough in &$*#&)!!& health insurance - which I noticed today is tripling for my "dependent" (hubby).

Great, there goes my other fave show:
"SVU's Detective Benson Attracts Lesbian Fans...Online fan fiction pairing Benson with ADA Alexandra Cabot has reached almost 200 stories, across at least 30 websites and mailing lists with sections devoted to the examination and expansion of the show’s subtext."

In my job, I get caught in the middle of the stupidity of the WOD. There is no common sense in play AT ALL. Practically every kid I work with is on a plethora of drugs, and if the parents don't want their kid on drugs, they're considered suspect at the least, and negligent, at worst. Same goes for parents with "problems." If they have an open protective services case and are not on medication if they're "supposed" to be, then they are faulted for not acting in the best interest of the child/children. But let a parent take a drug, even one that IS prescribed, and test positive on a random drug screen (required in many cases), there is hell to pay. And God forbid that one smoke marijuana. I have a kid in foster care now, 17 years old, because he was smoking pot with his mom. I had nothing to do with the decision to put him in foster care. It was a police matter, and if the cops call us in in a situation like that, we have no choice but to take the kid. Problem is, now they can't even have overnight visits, because the mom keeps testing positive for pot. I mean, the bottom line is that we're supposed to make sure kids are safe. Perhaps smoking pot with your 17 year old isn't particularly responsible, but dangerous??? Give me a break!

Well, I gotta get to bed. I didn't get in from Little Rock till almost 10. It is now past midnight. Had to have my FReep fix. I had to take a client to get admitted to a hospital in Little Rock last night. I was supposed to have the day off today (well, I did actually), but I didn't get her admitted and settled till nearly 11 pm last night. Then parsifal (a FReeper FRiend who lives in North Little Rock) talked me into staying up and having a couple of drinks, so I didn't get to bed to after 2 am. I had planned to go to Little Rock today anyway, but this way, I get reimbursed for expenses. I didn't plan it that way. that's just how it worked out. I can live with it.

Goodnight y'all. Hopefully, I will have a little FReep time tomorrow night, although I am going to have to study much of the weekend. I have my panel review on Tuesday. If I pass it, then my job is official (end of probationary period) and I will get a promotion and pay raise.

"The Wild Bird Store."

I used to know a few wild birds but that was many years ago in England. Sigh ...
