The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What's a good substitute for leather dressing? Oil, maybe?
Everything in the county's closed up for the moment.

You might try visiting on the weekend as well as during the week at rush hour. There's generally a lot of traffic both ways, since the south side of I-435 is totally built up. Still the edge to the downtown commuters.

Our traffic pattern is busy during the week during working hours and Saturday morning but nothing to speak of after that. It is really quite on holidays, 'everyone' goes to the The Lake.

Definitely avoid the flood insurance thing. Earth quake insurance is quite reasonable though.

Have you been advising every single woman I've interacted with in my entire life, or just the pretty ones?

Ummm....

Not sure how to answer that.

I just know that, in my life, an air of self-confidence (even feigned) solved a lot of problems and opened a lot of doors. Being an introverted, clumsy, geeky gal myself, the path to that realization was long and unplesant.

well, some acceptable substitutes could include neat's foot oil, lanolin, castor oil, vaseline petroleum jelly aka "the medicine chest in a jar". Don't use mineral oil or linseed oil.

How about motor oil? It also repels mosquitos. Don't ask me how I know this.

Don't know about that one, but just don't think so. Thanks for the good tip on the skeeters though, didn't know that.

ihatethisstupidfreeware...

Have just spent the last two hours hideously debugging code, only to find that the IDIOTIC program randomly didn't save bits. Don't ask me. I HATE this program.

I don't really have much in the way of adventures planned for this weekend. Just house hunting. And I suppose I should try to get the license plates changed. Hope the bolts aren't stuck.

Might start on my NaNoWriMo story planning.....I have a hard time plotting my way out of a paper bag.

Yes, it's the Java. I can't go adventuring unless it's done. Hopefully I can wrap this up by tomorrow afternoon.

My NaNoWriMo plot has a vague idea, one phrase, and eight characters. Good thing we've still got two months, huh?
