When we move back down South, I will truly miss the changing of the seasons.

Having lived all over the country (the privilege--and misfortune--of the military brat who follows Dad's footsteps), it is my experience that there is changing of the seasons everywhere. The summer of 1971 was brilliantly sunny and pleasantly warm in Anchorage, Alaska; two winters later it snowed on us in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

It's just that in the south, the cold, wet, miserable seasons are so much shorter. That suits me fine.

Well, for us this year, just the cold part was shorter...

Mornin' folks.

Oh, the seasons change. Even in MS, the winters are cold, when you compare them to the wet blast furnace temps of the summer. I'm talking about the changing of the colors of the leaves in the Fall. The sight of the almost day-glo orange, yellow, and deep purple red of the leaves on the sugar maples in MA, NH and VT can take your breath away! It doesn't last long, but is gorgeous while it's there.

When we lived in FL, the oak trees didn't lose their leaves in the Fall; they fell in the Spring when the new leaves were pushing through!
