The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We still have a little red dress shopping date sometime in the future, once we're both at goal in the exercise and diet department...

Actually I've still got "college professor" in the possible jobs list. Or rather, "part time community college instructor" is one idea I've come up with as a way to keep my resume current if I have kids. But if it's a choice between college and industry, well, the dollars and cents tell me I'll make twice as much in industry.

Oh, good luck on the job! Keep us posted.

LOL...study hard...I have ALL sorts of questions for the Prof about Pippin..."It really WAS about THAT hobbit, wasnt it, Dr. Tolkien? Right?!"

have been checking out the latest on Russell Crowe...I really am quite indifferent to the man himself, but I am kind of interested in the next film he has signed up to be in...seems Australia is not lacking for good stories to film. He's gonna be in a romance (s'bout time, Russ!) thats got kind of a fairytale element to it. A farmer who grows eucalyptus trees has a daughter, who will not allow to marry unless she can find a man who can name all the species of eucalyptus he has in his grove. Russ, of course, plays the hero who goes through all the tests. Sounds nice, doesnt it?

I still want him in knee breeches and cocked naval hat athwartship...I wish they'd announce whether or not there will be a sequel. Russ aint getting any younger...

Dunno how much there'd be in the way of shopping places near there, though...

But maybe.

Hey, maybe you've got an idea. I need a suggestion for an audition song.

Male, older (sigh), not leading man type (sigh) baritone/second tenor.

I don't want to do the typical "popular" ones.

A few years back I did "Pilate's Dream" from Superstar. Since it's been a while and since the Music and Fine Arts Pastor didn't see that one, I'm thinking of doing it again.

Any ideas?

LOL!! I was thinkin' the same thing coming out of the shower!

It's really unnerving. You can tell my hair is much thinner, if you knew what it looked like before. It doesn't look awful or patchy or anything...it's just not so much! Steve can tell and it's very noticable to him.

And when I reach up to feel the top of my head, it doesn't have so much cushion...it's just like a thin layer of hair then my rock hard head! Feels peculiar.

Sorry to hear about your hair...

Time to catch the bus! See everyone later. Maybe at work.

I had some Uncle Sam Cereal with blueberries this morning (just finished it, as a matter of fact). I noticed it has 2000mg of Omega 3s in a serving!

It's vey unnerving. Whattaya bet it all grows back in grey? I'll go grey and it'll be like almost over night.

WooHoo, then you, too, can be a Gray Panther! LOL!

I'm going gray at a pretty good clip, and it shows cause my hair is so dark to begin with, and it's going gray right around my face. SSQ is going gray, too, but you can't tell as much because his hair is natually ash brown, so the difference isn't that pronounced!

I actually saw Yul Brynner do The King and I way back in 1977 when I worked for the Salvation Army in NYC.

Got same day tickets for...seven bucks.

Yeah, the idiots just don't know when to shut up. All it's going to do is create more curiosity about what the book says.
All the better for Dubya! ;o)

They're too new for me to feel OK with just giving them away, but...

Is there a consignment shop close by you, Rosie? You won't get near the full price back, but you'll get something!

Ooo...Im probably not going to be much help...all I can think of is to go to Music Theatre International and maybe scan for something like what you are looking for. I rarely ever had to audition with a song...only time I did that was in high school and it was for choir.
