The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Rise and shine!

Rosie - I'm glad to hear the soreness is gone! :-)

Rick - please let me know when you have the price for the knives. I would really like one!

OK, on to breakfast.....

Oh, I'm glad you feel better!

It's raining. And I promised to be in an hour early. The good news is, that means I get done an hour earlier. But I'm tired...

Yeah, Walmart here carries the Diet-Rite. Although I think we can get the cola in the grocery stores. I haven't tried the other flavors.

(mornin' folks, catchin' up)

Morning, everyone!

Made it to MA okay. Just hanging out with the relatives today. Last night we went out to eat...thought about getting chowdah but then I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish the seafood pot pie. I'm missing my kitty already, though. It's pretty bad when you're scoping cars in the parking lot for cat prints on the hood!

We go down to the Cape this evening at 1800.

*snif*

Though...I'm not feeling too kindly towards cats at the moment. Tam decided to get very affectionate at about about three thirty this morning. Grr...I'm feeling the lack of sleep!

I couldn't sleep last night. People were roaring through the parking lot after midnight, I have no clue what was going on... now I'm tired. Hopefully the caffeine kicks in soon.

Sigh... I get to do laundry this afternoon.

I like my nice quiet street...used to be I lived right on a corner downtown, and there were ALWAYS jerks in jacked-up pick-ups without mufflers who'd roar by at two in the morning. Grrr! Between that and the garbage trucks and the snow plows and the train...it wasn't the best place for sleepin'.

Unfortunately I operate best on the "college-student" schedule: go to be around 1, get up around 9. It's not really practical, though, but I get very efficient after about 10 o'clock at night. There's not many distractions... yesterday evening I spent two hours working on learning Java. I could concentrate and my brain was actually awake.

Well, we'll see once classes start next week (!)

I kinda wish I was that way. But you saw at Entmoot how I actually function...my brain turns off by ten thirty or so. I ended up re-watching a lot of things the animooters watched at night 'cause I was falling asleep every evening.

I do my best work before noon. It's frustrating in some ways...people wanna go out and do things in the evenings, and I'm too tired or stupid to really enjoy it. And on the weekends...I wake up early and can't accomplish anything 'cause nothing's open before nine or so.

We're all unhappy with the way we are, aren't we?

Well, got to head off in a minute. Hopefully I'll be home earlier though I'm supposed to find a pay phone and call home...

BTW...even my Aunt is anti-Frankenkerry.

We went out to dinner with my aunt and one of her friends and tried to stay away from politics but Aunty told us "your father would not want you to vote for Kerry." That's pretty good for the liberal part of the family. But then I made the mistake of saying that the whackos are promoting the "Bush stole the election" idea. Bad move. That's exactly what my Aunt believes and she got in an argument about it with her friend.

*Sigh* So...how are the Red Sox doing?

You're askin the wrong gal. All I know is that they traded Nomar, so the fans are royally PI$$ED! Apparently he was one of those blends of great player and all around good guy. You don't see many of those in the top ranks of the sport.

Nice to hear your Aunt is anti-Kerry! Sorry she fought with her friend. I suspect I'll be doing a lot of that verbal struggling between now and Nov.!
BTW, watch out wheah you pahk the cah! ;o)
