The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, if'n it don't stop rainin' I'll need the ark. (Although it did get sunny some today).

I'm about 90% of the way there with the truck. It's not quite like the one in the picture. It's the Ford F150 Supercab like that but it's a "Heritage" version so it has the 2003 body even tho it's a 2004. And it's burgundy, not silver. I just missed the candy apple red one by a few hours ~snif~ Told him I'd call as soon as he gets in tomorrow.

I'll prolly get it. But walkin' off the lot with it tonite would have felt like an impulse buy.

I may be more rational in the morning. But I seriesly need a truck. And I seriesly know that the Sable ain't gonna last much longer.

Corin; sounds like a great ride, burgundy, nice. That one looks like an extended cab, good choice. Plenty of room for Luke and and the Lab.

Good move on leavin', let 'em sweat. Unless they already saw the "hmm - pickup - I wants it" in your eyes. :-)

Everyone's leaving me. Oh well. I've got stuff to watch... borrowed a disk of "Monk" episodes. Entertaining but kinda painful.

Tony Shalhoub is how I picture Stephen Maturin.

I'm afraid I haven't read "Master and Commander" yet, so I don't know how that'd work, LOL! I think I saw the pilot of "Monk"--might even have it on tape, I'm not sure. I wanted to check it out because it was advertised as similar to "Columbo"--my favorite detective show--but as I recall I didn't think it was after I watched it.

ooops...meant to post to someone else, but fingers slipped.

I am TIRED. I have been going at the church stuff practically all day, mostly on finishing the map and pamphlet. I had forgotten how much I disliked cartography. Making maps is a bitch.

ROFL!

I thought Hobbits liked maps :) Come up with any new story ideas while you were working on that?

Great article, 2J! It's always good to make people aware of those who can go to the scene to help. Others who can't go will help fund those who can!

LOL! I never would have made THAT connection! I love Monk, and am sorry we missed the 'Chunk of Monk' marathon that was on USA network on Sunday. We were on the road all day, coming home from FL.

We enjoy Monk immensely! Sometimes I can figure out the mystery early on, sometimes not, but it's always entertaining!
