Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, he is from Lousiana.... ;-)
But he doesn't have much of an accent at all, thankfully. I have trouble with deep Southern accents on men.

Heh... one of my uncles had his own logging company, and another uncle owned a logging equiment dealership (not the one my Dad worked at). After the mining industry collapsed, logging was about the only consistent industry in the region.
Pretty much had to leave to find work in the computer industry.

It's not pot. It's definitely cigarettes.
I've been having some trouble, lately... the place where I work is very dusty and several times in the last few days I've felt like I was about to have my throat clog up. Maybe it's something to do with the new place? It's much less humid here, maybe that's increasing my sensitivity?

If it stinks to high heavens, it's probably pot. That be the cheap stuff.

'Night folks. The Cubs won and now I'm going to watch Earth vs the Flying Saucers.

When I started readin' that post, I thought it was Ruthy talkin'. I'm thinkin' OMG, there's a hurricane comin' and she's tryin' tuh feed it... LOL!! Actually, I just caught the tail-end of the latest forecast and it looks like it'll be a west coast storm...Naples, Tampa, etc.
Which means the east coast will get all of the nasty rain and winds, but we won't be "officially" in a hurricane so we'll be forced to drive and work in that crap.

[ahem] Well... as it would happen, I know what a skidder is. A skidder is a logging thing... it's the big-assed vehicle that drags logs from the cut site up to the place where the loader puts the logs onto the log trucks.
Skidders can be just big D-9 caterpillars with tracks, or sometimes are these big monster articulated wheel jobs. It depends on the location and the needs of the moment. But generally you're talking about something powerful enough to drag two or three sixty foot old-growth logs outta the forest.
This may or may not be your exact problem... but the principle is there...

If you're suddenly hankering for a tuna fish and Dorito sandwich with a root beer float on the side, chances are it's pot you're smelling. *laughing* She woulda knowed that if'n she'd gone to publik skul...
To: JenB
Could be, sis. I'd invest in a bottle of Claritin syrup. 2 teaspoons a day.
If you feel better after a day or so, chances are it's allergies. You've just entered an entirely different region with different allergens than your body had built up resistance to in PA.

Well... that's what I get for trying to post the same @#$%ing comment for a half hour while %#@$ing Wayport gives me grief about my wireless connection.
Nevermind. :-)

Heh, it's almost like one of Suzi's funkles, but from half an hour ago instead of half a day ago...

I just can't understand it. Same with an Indian accent, I can follow a woman better than a man. It's weird.
And your accent's not very deep, Corin.

This looks like a job for a box fan.
