The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

LOL! Someone should animate a cartoon of Jar-Jar getting eaten by Gollum :)

No, just FMA as it's fansubbed. And I'll tell you, the waiting can be murder... it airs in Japan on Saturdays, and then the raw (untranslated file) is available Sunday or Monday, but that does me a fat lot of good... then one must wait until a fansub group does it. The group I've been getting it from is really good but not the fastest. And this week was a special two-episode deal...

But! A different fansub group did the two eps, and I have them now... got to see the first of them. It was very good. The hero was threatening the audience, in the teaser for the next episode: "I've just transmuted your televisions, if you change the channel, it'll explode".

When I move I'll look for a new thing. Maybe try renting some if there's a decent selection in town somewhere. Or watch some of the movies I haven't seen.

I was lurkin'. I do that sometimes.

Did you get the second package of cookies yet? I didn't want to leave your kids hanging too long... glad you're liking it. I really love this series and it keeps getting better. I'm almost up to date (there are 10 episodes yet to air) and there haven't been any indications that it's suddenly going to get stupid.

"I deliberately worded the questions to exclude air-raid-only actions; apparently not well enough :)"

Nah, I'm just being picky :) You worded it fine, as far as I can tell. I'd need to check the Morocco and Japan things to be 100% sure myself but I assume you're probably right.

ROFL!

So it sounds like they're still making new FMA episodes?--cool! I didn't realize you were getting new episodes so fast after their overseas release. Awesome!

I think they're probably made all the episodes; it's a 52-episode (two season) show, and as they just aired 41 and 42, they're almost done... I know they're making a movie, to be released in Japan next year, and hopefully some OAVs.

The beauty of the internet is that it connects people with too much time who want to watch anime with people who have too much time and want to translate anime.

52 episodes? Well, I'll hate to see it end, but I'm sorta glad that will eventually be some sort of closure for our intrepid duo.

Oh, no we haven't received the second package yet. I'll let you know when we do.

I'd expect it today or tomorrow. Depends on the snail-mail service.

Tell me about hating to see it end... but I can start to see threads coming together... I'm betting it won't end all happy, though. But as long as there's no "Dilandu is my sister!" moment, I'll be fine...

Got it and just sent a reply; thanks!

So did you ever watch that show? I used to watch reruns on the SciFi Channel.

"The beauty of the internet is that it connects people with too much time who want to watch anime with people who have too much time and want to translate anime."

That's what the Internet was originally designed for!--that's why Al Gore invented it. . .

An FMA movie sounds good! I still wanna see the "Kenshin" one. Want to see "Akira", too, so I can see what all the fuss is about.

Hey, did you ever hear of a series called "Lum--Urusei Yatsura"? I'm reading some stuff on it now and am wondering if it was an influence on "Ranma".

It was a neat series! I really liked the episodes I saw. Unfortunately I jumped in in the middle of the series and I guess there's like a zillion episodes, so I never quite caught up on the plot. I almost bought some episodes on tape at the used bookstore recently.

To: Wneighbor; msdrby; 300winmag; Corin Stormhands; HairOfTheDog; ecurbh; g'nad; osagebowman; ...

I received a forwarded e-mail message this morning from Lt. Paul.

Marhaba(howdy),

I am busier now than I have ever been. My unit develops all the construction contracts in the 1st Cavalry Division's area of operations. The Army seems to be the biggest employer of Iraqi contract labor. We are perpetually behind. I have been sent to Camp Cooke which is on the Al Taji Military Base northwest of Baghdad which used to be a Republican Guard base. This has become the size of a small city here. The Iraqi National Guard is on the other side from us here. Things of mass disappearance are not so disappeared here-within walking distance.

I received two packages from Rex's friends in Wichita Falls. I have just not had time to write them thanks. They sent a note about his baby being born. Tell him congrats on that.

Speaking of dove hunting-I was down on Saddam's hunting grounds just north of Baghdad Airport. There were more fat dove and quail there than I had ever seen in my life. Send a shotgun!(just kidding). I am sure your land/trailer stories get more interesting. I have too many stories to tell here. Slept through a rocket attack the other night-most impacts were old 107mm Chinese duds. Things have
actually quieted down since we arrived. Say a prayer for old me.

Assalamu Alykum,
Paul
