The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, I took your advice and took another one...it's been several hours and I can have them twice a day. I swear, I go months without having to take them, then a week where I gotta take 'em every day!

Best to take them steady when my stomach is flared up...tends to heal it up quick. I'll take another tonight.

Just coulda used your good company last night...Still, I'm glad you're here with me now. :-)

I used to have almost steady heartburn. Walked around with a big bottle of Tums in my purse all the time.

Now I rarely get it. I think it was black coffee. A little milk or creamer in coffee and I don't get heartburn.

Also avoid red sauces and if I have things like salsa I cut it with sour cream.

Absolutely, I light the next one with the stub from the last - wait...

I've been cheating this week, because just as I was getting over the strep, the stomach bug hit and for some reason, carbs help me when I've got stomach trouble. So I'm pretty much off, but trying not to eat too much junk, until I move.

Sigh... only 10... all I want to do is take a nap. Or maybe watch some anime, or read a book, or take the sibs to a movie... so I guess I really just don't want to be here.

Hmmm...I did run out of cream yesterday and drank my coffee black.

Nothin' bothered me until I suddenly jolted awake last night at 2:45am! Heard something...

Went into the living room and found we'd left the TV on. I had been so exhausted the night before that I never even noticed. I had just gone to bed, and crashed.

But then I was wide awake and sick.

I'll drink my coffee with cream this morning...

He just astounds me...I walked right past him in the grocery store the other day, didn't even recognize him.

LOL! Steve, or your little brother?

I wanna go home and read. The book I'm reading is vying for "best book I've ever read" status, but it does take concentration. Not an easy read.

And I'd like to get in some anime, since I won't have time tonight. *sigh* It's gonna be HOT at the jam tonight. I'd almost be tempted to skip it, but a) we're slipping in another practice for the gigs this weekend before the jam starts, and b) the folks who run the place will not be there, and we're some of the people who said we'd kinda keep things running. Could still slip out early, probably, but have to be there for at least a while.

Oh, yeah, you never told me your thoughts on the anime!

You're reading Kristen Lavrinsdaughter? Is that right? I've always meant to read that book but we don't have a copy.

Oops...actually responded as a freepmail!

It was Steve! We went to the grocery store, he went shopping and I went to our bank which is in the grocery store! When I went to look for him I walked right past him then went "Oh, wait!" and turned back around!

Kristin Lavransdatter, yes. I got it from the library. It's LONG, and the language is kinda tough...plus it assumes you know a bit about the history of Norway at the time, especially with regards to reigns, so I have to refer to the footnotes at times. But it is an INCREDIBLE book, not only as literature (and it's fine, fine literature), but as a study of human nature. The characters are totally real...and people you can really identify with. I think that's much more so if you're Catholic like they are, but probably true no matter. what. It's mind-boggling.

Yes, that's what I have...I've tried all kinds of medicines, but Zantac works the best...the prescription strength. I can take it "as needed".

Caused by esophogeal spasm. It'll go away eventually on it's own if I don't treat it, but it goes away faster and with less discomfort if I do.

I have enough Catholic friends that I'd probably identify with the characters pretty well... shall have to find it, though what I know about Norway could be written on one side of a notecard.

It IS at least PG-13, though. Just to warn ya. ;-) Lot of imperfect people, though very few that aren't trying to be better.

But I highly recommend it. It'd be good winter curl-up-with-a-book reading.

Oh, and the one other thing I can say...if you aren't familiar with Catholic feastdays, it'd be good to find a calendar to refer to, since they use that instead of months allll through the books. If you don't know what part of the year they're referring to, it can be confusing.

Is that like Saint so-and-so's day, or "Ordinary Time" versus Lent, that sort of thing?
