Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Greetings to all! Hair, I am so sorry to have missed the virtual wedding, but we had a family reunion that day. I will try to backtrack and look at what was posted, and I knew it was nothing but joyous and beautiful. I am very happy for you and ecurbh and wish you many many blessings in your life together!!

I did not miss the move, but have been away from the computer more often than not. Summer has meant a change of schedule and priorities. the little one has been busy eating up the days playing with the next door neighbor girl, and I have been slowling getting things squared away as to curtains, boxes, and other things. I had intentions to write, but the most I can muster is a post or two on my livejournal...and even that I dont devote a whole lot of time to.

yesterday, finally took the plunge and went to the University of Houston where my birthparents attended...thought I might be able to find ANYTHING about them, including any pictures, because I knew that they had both been involved in a musical together...

NADA. Good thing is I actually managed to get down there and pursue something that I had been contemplating for a while. Frustrating thing is, nothing panned out. Theres a lot more to the story, but for now I will say that I still have some avenues open, but I am not going to go full bore just yet.

Today, had to say over the phone to a 'friend' that I would need to sit down with them and explain why I have been so distant this past year. There's family politics involved and I am not at all enjoying the thought of doing this. Does anyone know anything about passive-aggressive friends and how to deal with them????????????????????

Anyway, that's been my summer, in short. Got *some* curtains done, and have made some lame attempts at writing, but am waiting until the daughter goes to stay with grandparents before I actually turn my attention to it. Seems everytime I get the groove, someone bumps the turntable...

Nice to see you Alkhin. I'm sitting here waiting on my teenager to get home from a movie.

Funny, I'm the one that has to get up the earliest tomorrow, but I'm the one waiting up...

Hi Alkhin!

Know about passive-aggesive friends/family. Not fun.

Good to hear some good things are happening and that you're getting some things accomplished!

Is that the original Six Flags over Texas that's somewhere between Fort Worth and Dallas? My family stopped there on our way home to MS from visiting my brother at the AF Academy in CO back in 1966!

I saw gas for 1.93/gal. today, and that's the cheapest I've seen around here in several months. When I was in MS over the weekend, it was typically 1.75-1.80/gal.

Hi Corin, hope the teenager arrived safe and sound!!! I bet it wont be long before I am doing the same myself with my daughter!!

Wneighbor: thank you! I am going email you with some questions.

My SIL has been over for the past couple of days...have been spending time "talkin' trash" and drooling over favorite actors....

*yawn* g'mornin'

Runnin' a bit late as I have to wait until swim team practice starts at 8:00 to go yell at our pool manager. Seems he's making misbehaving kids run laps and do sit-ups. He's got no authority to do that.

Later.

Still in the 1.90s here, too, for the most part. Even some places where it's still 2.05 or so. Bilbo just came back from a week long bagpipe workshop south of here, and they saw prices in the 1.70s in a few places. They were joking that they coulda brought a couple of extra gas tanks and financed their trip!

Good morning! Today is my Friday, if all goes well!

Bothers still haven't decided where to go, though. They're supposed to be planning, so all I have to do is drive. From the sound of things last night, if I don't plan and book and all that, we ain't goin'. And after the stalling, I'm wondering if anyplace will even have open rooms or campsites anymore. *sigh* Also Bilbo finally informed us LAST NIGHT that he has to be back first thing in the morning on Saturday. Here Jim and I were thinking we had a lot of days to work with - Thursday through Monday, which we both have off. So...Bilbo ain't going. If he'd told us that a long time ago, I coulda taken Monday and Tuesday off and we could have left Sunday afternoon and had a nice long time. Too late now.
