That's just WAY too young! I'll be keeping her family and friends in my prayers!
Sure, I'm going to take off from work early on Thursday, so we'll have lots of time -- what section of town is the hall in (I haven't checked), we know lots of places in Seattle, but I'm not sure what part of town we're going to (guess I should look at the address on the tickets)?
Not to be disrespectful here, but tell 'em to suck prunes! Kids belong in church just as much as everyone else.
They already looked like they'd been suckin' lemons.
We just ignored 'em.
That's just a couple blocks from the Pike Place Market...number of great places there -- a Bolivian place up above some of the downstairs stands that has fantastic Paella is one that comes to mind. There's a cool little Russian place about a block up from that near Virginia Street. There's a good Mexican place down the hill in the Market too.
Good! - We're game for anything, even though I have no idea what Bolivians eat. ;~D
They are going to my mom's house. So, I hafta travel back down there to see them. I will prolly visit Friday and take the two girls back to my Grama's house for the night. Hopefully they can spend the weekend with me there and Jill, Tom and Buck can come up and go to the lake with us or something Saturday or Sunday. Not sure what their schedule is gonna be like. I won't be able to keep the baby with me cause he's still nursing. But, Abby, Emily and I should have a blast. And I'll spend time with the Jill, Tom and Buck too. :-)
Okay, whoever posts about how wonderful this concert is must be sure and ping me to it! I will be out of pocket where I won't even have dialup to use the laptop for a few days and I will want to see your raving about it!
I will be off and away from Thursday till probably the following Monday night or Tuesday.
Me neither! LOL...
When I went to Venezuela I only knew a little about what they ate too. It was a food adventure. A good one. But, it was certainly different.
Maybe we need pictures of the food from the Bolivian place. :-)
That church story... wow. How dare anyone criticize how you chose to raise your child?
When I was five my parents decided I was going to sit in service with them, rather than going to Children's Church (there were some issues with other kids there) and after that, we didn't do Children's Church at all. For years we'd get criticized - and then we switched church to one where the families all worshipped together! Seperate Sunday School, yes, but in a lot of ways it's such a blessing to have a whole row full of kids singing with their parents.
That was our old church. New church is the same way. I've already decided that when I have kids, they'll be in the service as soon as they graduate nursery.
Thanks you! (I'm biased, but I think they're cute!)
I wondered if Venezuelan food would be sorta like Mexican (I mean real Mexican - not Tex-Mex) when I went there. It wasn't. But, I am also thinking that Bolivian wouldn't be as much like Venezuelan either. There was a lot of fish dishes in Venezuela because of the location on the coast and the number of rivers. And since it was more affluent than Mexico there was lots more meat. But, more poultry than I like.
I do know Argentina is heavy in the beef. There is a lot of ranching in the area of Venezuela I visited and beef seemed to be plentiful but the local quisine seemed to rely more on fish and poultry. The beef was usually just grilled ... which was excellent though!
Exactly. Matthew went to extended session till he was four...but he loved it and we didn't care one way or another. But at age four and about the time we started bringing Joshua into worship with us, he started coming in too. Our church has children's church and even my best friend Celeste's kids go to it...but not my jedis.
Only one time did I actually get up and take the jedis out and that was when the pastor was giving a very graphic account of Lot and his daughters...not for a child's ears! We went and hung out in the library...librarian is a good friend of mine anyways and I like to sit in there and visit.
Not every kid behaves in service, though most do, but it's still nice to have them there. It seems like families never do anything together, worshipping ought to be different.
I don't think there's anything wrong with children's church, and the kids probably do learn a lot, but I like the lessons kids learn by being with the parents even more.
Our church doesn't even use a hymnal anymore!! They just plaster the words on a big screen in the front, like we're too stupid to look it up!
Steve and I grab a hymnal and dust it off (no kidding) and try to find the songs (if they are even in the hymnal) and show the boys the words...Joshua can't even read them, but I show him how the notes go up and down.
Sigh...
They have beef, lamb and chicken mostly -- with Spanish spicing (lots of Saffron and rice). Because of their Spanish twist, the steaks are really fabulous. The South American wines are kind of fun too, they're from the grapes that you get in Spanish vineyards. You can tell it's related to (or comes from, more accurately) the same source that true Mexican comes from. Not quite as varied as Mexican, however. It's kind of an interesting mix of Spanish and "cowboy American".
Heh, our old church did that - not that they sang hymns, it was all praise choruses. Which are fine, but often lack the majesty of the old hymns. Our new church sings hymns, from the hymnals. We don't have a projector. We have an organ to accompany us. The pastor doesn't even use microphones! (Small building, and he speaks loudly enough to fill it up).
Other than the lights, the services are probably exactly the same as they were 130 years ago when our church was built.
