The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

so if you see her posting here after I leave, give her what-for! ;)

Uh. Prolly not! Rose is all grown up now - despite what her boss thinks!!! She can post all night if she can deal with work tomorrow!!!

Course, I say that knowing she and I might find a hot topic to discuss! :-)

Yep. He was a Sailor and now a Marine.

You sound like quite the proud dad.

He introduced ... Robert Heinlein to me.

Man, I'm jealous!

I recognize the Capital Forest and Waddell Creek there.

A while back, Steve sent some of his photos from R&R in Qatar. One of them showed him in his BladeMatrix free t-shirt. I forwarded the picture to Brent Skinner at BM, the guy who gives us the great deals.

He said he wouldn't use the picture in any advertising, but had it printed out in a large format, and put on the wall of his office. He says he gets a big kick out of Steve and his BladeMatrix t-shirt.

I put Blade Matrix T-shirts in the 3 packages I sent out last Friday too. I used them as the packing material to keep down the rattling! :-)

You can tell Mr. Skinner that his shirts will be all over Iraq doing a nice advertising job VEY soon! :-)

biddy girl and elf-boy got their pictures taken yesterday. What an ordeal! If 2 two were bad, I cannot imagine having more than 2 kids getting pictures done at the same time...

WN, this is the "Praise Jesus" position.

LOL!! It must get some great laughs when folks come into his office. I hope he tells folks about how Steve got the shirt!

I love that picture. It reminds me of our own g'nad and his 'red meat off the bone' picture.

and then hit them up for VBS while there here.

Vey sneaky!! I like that about you! LOL

I'm dog sitting at my parents while they are out of town. Steve took the jedis to church. He's teaching the toddlers today.

Mrsnad...I can't do it anymore. I tried...but I get so MAD at the parents that just obviously dump their kids off...the kids are so unhappy. Granted, they cheer up because Steve and I are fun to be around and because little ones are so resiliant, but I hate seeing that initial agony of abandonment.

I would NEVER leave my child crying in the care of someone else...with Matthew it wasn't an issue, he never had the problem...he couldn't wait to get away from us and see what the world held. But Joshua, he had seperation anxiety BAD and we just said "phooey" and either didn't put him in Sunday school or just sat in there with him! (That's how we got to be substitutes...they figured if we were gonna be there anyways, we might as well sub for Joshua's teachers when they were out! LOL)

After a while we found that Joshua could tolerate Sunday school, but not extended session...so we endured scowls from the elderly in our church and just hauled him into worship with us, whereas within minutes of the pastor beginning his sermon, Joshua would drop off to sleep in my arms.

Many people condemned us...one of his teachers just critized me scathingly...said he was was gonna be a clingy child. Funny, after he worked through that phase, he was and remains the most independant of his peers...he loved his preschool and would just say "Mom!!!" whenever I suggested that he "didn't really have to go" (which I told him every time I took him! LOL)

You met him...he wasn't clingy, was he? He went right off with your two and just had a blast.
