Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

2J, so sorry for you. Sounds like you, and your church, have lost a very good person.

Oh, 2J, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Yes, I know what you mean about someone who's there for you, no matter what. It's hard to lose them.
What's her first name? I'll put her and her family on our Parish prayer list.

Thanks, guys...it's all right. She was just one of those people I looked forward to seeing in church, you know? She always stopped to talk to me in the foyer before SS. It was a slow and steady friendship developing and I will miss seeing where it would have led.
I'm not so much sad about her death...she's in a glorious place!

She may be in shock over meeting your whole family. Does she have many siblings? She comes from a big family, yeah. Can't remember exactly how many, but I think it was seven?
She doesn't really seem shy...just not super talkative. I'm thinking of trying to talk them into doing a hike or something like that this weekend...something where we CAN talk, but it isn't a high pressure environment like sitting around a table can be.
She did come out of her shell a bit when politics came up. Lashed into Gray Davis but good. ;-)

hehehe....Poor Emma is subjected to it all the time. It's only fair that we provide some momentary distraction so that she can actually walk around "unhindered". ;-)

It hadn't properly registered with Arthur that the council wanted
to knock down his house and build an bypass instead.
At eight o'clock on Thursday morning Arthur didn't feel very
good. He woke up blearily, got up, wandered blearily round his
room, opened a window, saw a bulldozer, found his slippers, and
stomped off to the bathroom to wash.
Toothpaste on the brush - so. Scrub.
Shaving mirror - pointing at the ceiling. He adjusted it. For a
moment it reflected a second bulldozer through the bathroom
window. Properly adjusted, it reflected Arthur Dent's bristles.
He shaved them off, washed, dried, and stomped off to the kitchen
to find something pleasant to put in his mouth.
Kettle, plug, fridge, milk, coffee. Yawn.
The word bulldozer wandered through his mind for a moment in
search of something to connect with.
The bulldozer outside the kitchen window was quite a big one.
He stared at it.
"Yellow," he thought and stomped off back to his bedroom to get
dressed.
Passing the bathroom he stopped to drink a large glass of water,
and another. He began to suspect that he was hung over. Why was
he hung over? Had he been drinking the night before? He supposed
that he must have been. He caught a glint in the shaving mirror.
"Yellow," he thought and stomped on to the bedroom.

I havent had any trouble, but the ljmaintenance people were making announcments about moving things to a new server and warned that some ljs would be affected. Yours might have been one of them. They said it should all straighten out pretty soon.

I heard somewhere recently that they're making another movie of that. Maybe less cheesy than the BBC version?

Would less cheesy be good? People might take it too seriously...
I'm undecided!

Yeah - the effects could be better... less use of aluminum foil.
