Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

YOu know, I just thought...

It won't work.

I'm gonna have about 8 hours of recording on each tape.

I don't know if it is even possible to put 8 hours of video on a disk and even it it was, I prob'ly couldn't afford it.

Oh well...so much for my thinkin' huh? LOL

Well, they "rent" the DVDs of the same classes...but you get scads of DVDs and you gotta return them and I think each class costs about a thousand dollars.

Phooey...I'll just record them and alternate the tapes. I woulda liked to have kept the tapes Matthew does for when Joshua gets to 5th grade...but oh well.

My friend Celeste records EVERY class separately onto a different VHS tape...she has PILES of tapes everywhere. She has FIVE VCRs!

I can re-use the same tape for Joshua, since I only have to record one day a week for him. Matthew will require 2 tapes a week to get all his classes.

See, when they broadcast a class, they broadcast a weeks worth of class at a time...so you have to fast forward to your appropriate lesson. I can do it, it's just gonna be a hassle.

True, they're the family you like to keep locked in the back room when company comes.

As a damn-yankee, I think I may resemble that remark...

Off again. I went to the store for snacks and we're headed downtown for fireworks. Let's hope it doesn't thunderstorm again.

Happy Continued Repression...fer you Southerners. ;~D

Well, I was told that we didn't shoot fireworks in the South on the Fourth of July for a while because that's the day that Vicksburg fell. We took to shooting them on New Year's Eve. Still do it today, though, in my lifetime, we've always celebrated the Fourth. My Daddy always told me the fireworks were for me cause my birthday was the day before, but we always celebrated it on the Fourth so's we could have homemade ice cream, etc. ;o)

SSQ looked into recording directly onto DVDs from the TV by using a setup where the computer was attached to the TV with a special input device. I'll ask him about it and let you know.

Well, around here, we usually see them in late summer, they're probably migratory, but the silvas and cannas are on their "must stop" list.

We used to see more yellow finches but they don't care for the competition with the other birds. We have been seeing a few blue jays, actually a welcome sight since they got hit so hard by west nile.

Yeah, good one, Corin. And those things make an even more annoying noise than jetskis.

That'd be one of the reasons we'd lock ya in the back room.

It's been rainy and stormy all day. We're debating going to see fireworks. I think wife and I would just as soon not, but we have people that really NEED to get out of the house.
