Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It'll be fun. Wish I knew when we'd be back... I'll probably come home and read and go to bed. Today hasn't been bad, but tomorrow's Wednesday and that's a dull day... only my uncle's coming in and I might see him tomorrow night. He'll be at our house during the day, while I'm working, and then at my grandmother's all evening, so I might have to go over there.
Ugh, it's turning into a busy week again.

I have people coming to play music tonight, assuming we don't go over to that other guy's house again. And I was going to make dinner for my brothers...so I have that to do, too.
But later, I should have time for a glass of wine and some more reading. Reading has been very slow going lately...just haven't had much time.

You're on Goblet of Fire, right?
I'm really bummed, I was just starting to get into "Dracula" last night when the power went out. Oh well.
And... it's time to go! See you later.

I'm trying to read "Goblet of Fire" and "Dracula" at the same time! Kinda interesting to combine them together :)

I've not read Dracula. Not sure I want to try. I don't handle horror very well. I did read Frankenstein, but that wasn't really horror. I still found it creepy, but...

Well, the first few chapters aren't that creepy. I'm sort of doing vampire-myth research so I thought I'd start with a classic....
Shh, I'm not really here. I'm getting ready to go (my hair only needs one hand at this point, though)

"Dracula" is a little scarier than "Frankenstein"--less SF and more horror. Incidentally they were both sort of inspired by a party the Shelleys and their friends had where they challenged each other to write a horror story. Mary W. Shelley came up with "Frankenstein" and one of their friends came up with a vampire story which later was an influence on "Dracula".

A
pumice stone? Oh, I love mine. It was the answer to prayer when I had that bad cracked open area.
I soak my feet in Aveeno bath and warm water, then scrub with the pumice stone, then slather with lotion, then either put on my socks and shoes or put on a pair of socks and go to bed.
My feet still get dry looking when I wear sandals, but at least they aren't painful like before.

No. Not a pumice stone. I've used one of those for a long time. I got one of those other thingies.... Like a stick with sandpaper.

Just about time to head home now. I'm gonna make a sort of lasagna for dinner...saw a recipe on another forum and decided it sounded good. You layer salsa and tortillas (whole wheat, since I'm doin' that diet) with a cottage cheese / sour cream mixture and ground beef, and chiles if you like 'em, sprinkle grated cheese on top, and bake it as a casserole. Nice and easy, and sounds like it could be tasty. My brothers are coming, so I get to make guinea pigs out of 'em. ;-)
